25.01.2022 Let’s talk about grounds- backgrounds. They can be wonderfully textured with Gesso, paper, sand and all kinds of items. The value of a background layer that is visually textured adds dimension, interest, and a lovely feel that is hard to match compared to a flat colour. It’s also a great way to break open an impossibly blank canvas.

25.01.2022 Visiting this today, in its new home. They are like my children and I love to see them

22.01.2022 This guy is talking to me today. His name is Shunryu Suzuki. He is a Zen monk, known for bringing Zen Buddhism to the West. For reasons I can’t quite explain I painted a very large portrait of him that now resides in my house. Here are some of his quotes that are grabbing me in this moment. The most important point is to accept yourself and stand on your two feet In zazen, leave your front door and your back door open. Let thoughts come and go. Just don't serve them tea.... Nothing we see or hear is perfect. But right there in the imperfection is perfect reality. enjoy your problems Life is like stepping onto a boat which is about to sail out to sea and sink. When you accept everything, everything is beyond dimensions. The earth is not great nor a grain of sand small. In the realm of Great Activity picking up a grain of sand is the same as taking up the whole universe. To save one sentient being is to save all sentient beings. Your efforts of this moment to save one person is the same as the eternal merit of Buddha. Shunryu Suzuki

22.01.2022 #Inktober #day5 the prompt word for today is #rodent. 40% of mammals are rodents, which are characterised by their continually growing front teeth. Many families of animals belong to this group-including rats, mice , beavers and squirrels

21.01.2022 They are floating in space. Unified field of love. Aqua green and magenta are part of higher dimensional light codes. Grounding has been a life long project for me. I can wholeheartedly say that children have really helped with that! They are masters of flowing in the moment and carefree open presence. The first part of the journey is remembering that we are God, the next part of the journey is grounding that experience on Earth. I suspect the next part after that is releasi...ng all thoughts and allowing all that is, as it is, being God in the moment, ever flowing, ever present, unified with our soul. ‘To return to the kingdom of heaven - be as children‘ .I’m pretty sure that’s why our children appear so angelic at times. As they get older...not so much This is a post from two years ago today- not much has changed and I’m still thinking along similar topics at this time of year! See more

21.01.2022 From the archives. Drawing flowers reminded me of this lovely tulip. Flowers have messages for us, the lovely grace and simplicity of the tulip speaks of renewal and unconditional love. Fish are a repeating theme, from a time when I had recurring dreams about fish that would swim out of their tanks. In fact I still have flying fish dreams! Watercolour, white gouache and pen on paper.

20.01.2022 #inktober2020 #wisp #inktober #wispday2inktober I keep thinking of an elemental wisp, like a little white flame of energy. These are wispy spider orchids from South Western Australia where I live. Inktober helps artists to get inspired to draw daily for the month of October; hundreds of thousands of artists from all over the world have a go, maybe this year you could try one of the prompt words!

18.01.2022 Bloodstone hummingbird. This one has a bit of energy about it. Watercolour, prismacolor, pen and gouache on A4 on 10x14 paper. Hummingbird reminds us to partake in the lightness and enjoyment of life, and open our hearts to presence. Hummingbird is also capable of incredible feats, reviving from stasis, being able to fly in all directions, fly incredibly long journeys and hold a figure 8 pattern in its wings. Hummingbird medicine has long been revered by shamans. From The... Liquid Crystals: ‘Bloodstone is a potent stone of renewal, revitalisation and healing. The associated animal is the hummingbird. Bloodstone helps us to ground what is important in our life and release the rest, allowing spirit to become our guide; I am Pure, spirit is my guide. It is one of the gateway frequencies to physical mastery and Mayan contact stone. Prints will be available, let me know now by PM if you are interested! Giglée - $50 (highest quality cotton rag), $25 (high quality on card, limited quantities) Love Tara

12.01.2022 That weird moment I realised my self portrait as an animal has the same colours as my self portrait as a flower...

12.01.2022 So proud of all of us! Here are some pictures from today’s ‘I Am’ Flower painting workshop. Some of these guys had never painted. Thanks everyone for an amazing warm, relaxing, soulful and heartfelt day. Acrylic on paper and 12 x12 canvas.

11.01.2022 A little while back I decided to start drawing and painting freehand. Not worrying if circles weren’t circles, or if straight lines had curves. A bit like a tattoo artist- first time is the right one. Commitment to the moment. Freedom in what is. There’s a lot to be said to applying that philosophy to life. Yet duality consciousness requires us to be both present, free and structured. There’s certainly an art to enjoying the gift of the moment, yet still moving through life in a way that feels fulfilling. Friday musings

11.01.2022 #inktober2020 prompt word is #Fish. The word Fish is also a verb ie ‘to fish’ and I also thought about a traditional fisher casting a net at dawn. #goldfish are some of my favourite fish and I have been blessed to keep company with them for years. They are far more social and cognisant than you’ve been led to believe. When I come home they quietly seem to say ‘ah, you’re back, all is well in my world.’ #day1Inktober2020

11.01.2022 Butterflies and olive leaves. I did this a while back during a stay in Busselton. I keep these hidden just for times like these. There are so many butterflies around me at the moment!

10.01.2022 The gorgeous Kiwi Wong, this was a commission I did a little while back, of a dearly departed family member. Watercolour and gouache. I also looked up the frequency of the name purpose to see what delights were gifted- it was Carnelian, so I added some of that magic in too.

09.01.2022 #inktober2020 prompt word for today #day5 is #blade. I do like Japanese blades but I was in the mood for drawing blades of grass. The original meaning of the word for blade is the plant kind. Every blade of grass has its angel that bends over it and whispers Grow, Grow. Commonly attributed to the Talmud.

08.01.2022 One of my favourites from a few years back. Sufi teachings of Love are so beautiful. Happy solstice to all, the day of the most light and dark depending on where you live. Also Saturn and Jupiter are conjunct at 0 degrees today, (one on top of the other) and forming what looks to be a big bright star, sometimes referred to as the star of Bethlehem. It is so close to the earth you can see it with your eyes- although binoculars might help!

07.01.2022 This is the other half of the Octopus drawing...Instagram’s square format context can omit some important information

07.01.2022 Seeing My Octopus Teacher on Netflix reminded me of this Octopus drawing I did a while back. And if you haven’t seen it - watch it it’s a beautiful heart touching, nature loving story This drawing is watercolour, pen and prismacolor on paper. The geometry is the seal of Melchizedek. The symbolism is doorways of flowing with God’s work in the world.

Lavender flower, essence of self worth. Music: Khalid, Disclosure know your worth

05.01.2022 Friend, that bag has gotten bulky since last we met... The prompt word for today is #bulky #day3inktober #inktober #inktober2020. The word says: PasT. Learning to let go of the heaviness we carry has been a big theme for 2020

04.01.2022 ‘Beat the drum of my heart’ from two years ago. I love Turtle doves. I love that they form strong pair bonds and represent devoted love. I love that they are innocent nest builders, building impossibly fragile nests in open sites...we did our mating dance and this place looks good, and not much more planning than that took place. They symbolise the divine in our life, the olive branch bearers, the reminder that spirit dwells so close to us.

01.01.2022 #inktoberday4radio today’s prompt word is #radio - red-‘e’, ‘o’ just in case you were wondering what the red letters were saying. My graphic design mind kicked in for this one also I was inspired by an article in the nytimes.com: letter of recommendation- radio garden. Exceptionally well written article;radio garden is a free web site that allows you to listen to alternative music from around the world just by pressing on a location! Half the music notation is from the very fabulous drummer Nathan Winterflood who satisfied my desire to know part of the beat to sunset lover by petit biscuit. Reference image from Pixabay
