Things are a bit different this time around with my main focus being an after School care service operation through Elite Daycare. 20.01.2022 Somthing different for this fortnights programing!! We have divided our toy room into two smaller sections this week! Added a little home corner for the kids with mini doll houses, a kitchen set up to come, puzzles, books and small quiet activities :)

19.01.2022 This egg came home from daycare today, as it always does. You see, I don't see this as a failure, this is a win! Little nibbles here and there...a little toddle...r experimenting, trying, testing. Brilliant! That's the aim of the game...for kids to feel comfortable to at least TRY foods. To experiment. To feel comfortable taking a bite because they're inquisitive, and not feel scared that they are going to be in trouble from mum or dad for not finishing the food. What about the waste? Well, that's not up to the kid to have to manage. They shouldn't have to be force fed egg because we adults don't want to waste food. There's a term for that, it's called 'Luxus consumption' where one eats beyond what their body needs, and this is classified as a form of food waste, just the same as if it just went in the bin. Research shows, that forcing a child to eat, can actually lead to fussy eating. It's up to us as adults to manage the food waste, not the kids. There's plenty of time later on to teach them how not to waste food and how to appreciate food. But babies and toddlers don't have the cognitive ability to understand all that, and all they will hear is the crankiness. So, we have to be clever. I simply eat the rest of the egg when we get home from daycare. It's my snack. We have to try and stop force feeding our kids, just because we don't like to waste food. Because in doing so we are teaching kids to ignore their 'belly voice', as a call it. This is that marvelous little voice that tells them when they are hungry and when they are full, and when they should stop eating. As adults, we lose our belly voice. We have to also stop expecting kids to eat like adults, and finish everything that's given to them. They're not adults, they're kids and they're still learning the skill of eating. It takes time. If they take two bites of pumpkin and that's it. It's ok, that's actually awesome!! Start to see small things like this as a win rather than a failure, and it might just ease some pressure at mealtimes. Hope this helps!

17.01.2022 I would like to say a big thankyou to all the wonderful families for their support over the last few months. COVID-19 has had such a large impact on Family Daycare, Australia wide. However your never ending support and kindness has touched my heart and has really helped me through these hard times more then you know. I have so much appreciation for you all and I am proud to call you family Its it with pleasure that i can say that I am fully booked out for the remainder o...f the year!!! And I am so excited and feel extremely privileged to be a part of your childrens lives!! Thankyou again!!

17.01.2022 Taras Little Sprouts has been closed due to family circumstances. For those of you that don't know, Paul, my wonderful and supportive husband and father to our little boy harry, passed away suddently and unexpectedly 4 weeks ago with no warning or reason. He has left a hole in our lives and will be forever loved and missed. I want to say a big thankyou for all the support over the last 4 weeks and the last 2 years of running family daycare.To all my supportive families and th...eir children i hope that we stay in touch and you are always welcome in our lives. To Elite Daycare and the wonderful staff for always being there for me through the good and the bad times thankyou for all your love and support. Harry and I have a long journey ahead of us but i know that we will be ok because of all the support and love that we have through friends, family and our supportive community that Paul has left behind. Harry is his amazing legacy and through him paul lives on in our lives. xxx See more

12.01.2022 Some pictures of our daycare areas inside. Lots of toys to encourage hours and hours of playing everything from hot wheel tracks, prams and toy vacumes, Teepee tents, pop up tunnels and puppet show set ups! I also encourage puzzle play with a big box of wooden puzzles to suit all ages and books books and more books!!! We have a drawing station which kids can help themselves to when ever they feel the need to create and express themselves through art and craft. Outside we have two big blackboard walls in our under cover area that the kids can use at anytime, specially on those rainy days that albany often has! As well as our planned activities i like to encourage children to lead the way using their imagination and help them explore their world!
