22.01.2022 Anna Hutchinson - New Member Rotary Club Taree. PIC: - The Rotary Club of Taree’s newest member Anna Hutchinson (centre) with fellow Rotarians (L-R) Fiona Tinne...y, Susie Ploder, Di Woollard and Fr Peter Tinney on her induction night. The Rotary Club of Taree inducted a new member with a special connection to one of its own recently. Rotarian Dr Colin Rose delivered over 3000 babies during his long tenure practicing medicine in the Manning Valley. As such it was with great delight he witnessed the induction of one of those 3000, Anna Hutchinson, to the Rotary Club of Taree. Anna’s new membership takes the club’s member total to 41. She was inducted by president David Denning, and has the vocational classification of Funeral Director. Anna is very much looking forward to a long association with the club.

22.01.2022 (PIC) Local Member Steve Bromhead presents board members of the Manning River Aero Club (L-R) Garry Tonkin, Richard Gliddon and president Mark Drury with a $20,...000 cheque for much needed external repairs to the clubhouse building. Pilots of the NSW Rural Fire Service, SES, Westpac, PolAir, Care Flight, Toll, and the NSW Air Ambulance have access to the clubhouse facilities 24/7 365 days of the year. There are no other facilities for them to use in the Manning Great Lakes Area. The NSW Rural Fire Service used the clubhouse during the recent bushfires continuously for three months to act as a command and control centre for the many helicopters and fixed-wing fire bombers stationed at the airport. Flying training is still an important part of the club’s activities with many student pilots from the Manning, Great Lakes and Gloucester areas going on to fly for the RAAF and Australian Airlines. Mr Bromhead was delighted the club has resumed scenic flights over the Manning Great Lakes with 19 flights taken in the last two months proving very popular with tourists and locals alike. The club provides facilities to the NSW Air League and has a strong association with the Rotary Club of Taree which hires the clubhouse for functions and new member training. Indeed the aero clubs first Chief Flying Instructor in 1960 Harvey Else, is still a member of the Rotary Club of Taree today. Club president Mark Drury thanked Mr Bromhead for the State Governments significant and much-appreciated contribution to the Manning River Aero Club which he assured him it will be carefully and well spent.

20.01.2022 Wauchope’s riverside project and dog park are just two of Wauchope Rotary Club's collaborative community projects. They're also perfect examples of why groups l...ike theirs are so vital to our community. As a show of appreciation, we presented a Community Chest grant to president Diana Reynolds and Rotarian George Campbell this week so they can continue with more exciting projects on the drawing board for 2021. Last year was tough for groups like Wauchope Rotary as they couldn’t rely on usual fundraising activities due to Covid-19 restrictions. We hope this grant, which is thanks to customers who purchase specially marked products in our IGAs, will ensure they continue to roll out projects that benefit our town well into the future. We’d also like to thank customers for contributing to this grant, which is one of six presented in January. Every time you purchase a Community Chest or Community Co product at any of our four IGA supermarkets you can feel good about giving back to the community too. Pictured here is Wauchope Rotary Club President Diana Reynolds and Ex-President George Campbell with Hastings Co-op’s Co-op CEO Allan Gordon and Community Engagement Manager Tim Walker.

13.01.2022 Yesterday I stood in parliament continuing to fight to permanently open the e...ntrance to the mighty Manning River. On the floor of the Legislative assembly chamber I called on the NSW Government to fund the modelling and business case of the Manning River Taskforce's recommendations. The funding I’m asking for is the next step in the process of the Manning Valleys more than century long fight to make a permanent navigable entrance between Harrington and Manning Point and a permanent entrance at Farquhar inlet a reality. We’ve already seen great support for this project from the community since launching a paper petition with the Manning River Action Group and key stakeholders and I’m hopeful my request for funding will be met to ensure this project continues to progress as the Manning Valley communities carry on rallying around the petition.

08.01.2022 So, today.. We went flying.. Not going to lie, not a fan of these planes seeing I’ve seen 3 similar crash/ed, one right next to me.. But Andy planned out a sur...prise birthday present for me this morning and I had about 10 minutes to suck that up and load up.. We got to go flying over our beautiful Manning Valley & Great Lakes and fly over our loved ones properties . What can I say, where else would you rather be? I can see why the Sydney siders are flocking here. Today, we even had water like Forster! We seen a shark, 3 massive pods of dolphins, horses on the beach and our local castle. A year ago we were burning down, 12 months on, we are green! But plenty of areas have burnt that hot, it’s not regenerating . On another note, the only present I asked for all year was a cake made by the baker, and he delivered. Dinner with the girls also . Thanks Andy . #Lovetaree #Cake See more

02.01.2022 Last meeting for 2020 at Manning River Aero Club

01.01.2022 PIC: Guest speaker John Caldon (centre) with (L-R) Rotarians Bruce Moy and president David Denning of the Rotary Club of Taree. Something needs to happen with t...he entrances of the Manning River to bring us in line with other river entrances on the eastern seaboard. That was the central theme of guest speaker, John Caldon’s talk to the Rotary Club of Taree recently. Mr Caldon’s building company constructed over 2000 homes during his career. He has also devoted a considerable amount of his private time in recent years to address what should be done about the entrances of the Manning River. By working through a myriad of committees; and gaining the considerable support of local members Dr David Gillespie and in particular Stephen Bromhead, Mr Caldon has seen some results. A Ministerial Enquiry has been conducted a Ministerial Task Force completed and a Ministerial Report has been tabled but not yet made public. Mr Caldon said the Ministerial Report should call for an economic benefits study and scientific study of the entrances to see what is required. He said it is likely the funding for the study will be provided and if 10,000 signatures of support are received, it will proceed. From a social, economic, environmental and cultural perspective there is a very, very, strong argument that something needs to happen to bring us in line with other entrances up and down the eastern seaboard, Mr Caldon said. The enormity of the work to achieve this cannot be understated. John and his team were strongly praised by all members of the Rotary Club of Taree many of who are from multi-generational families of the Manning Valley. Mr Caldon also spoke on Team Taree. He said last year $200,000 was raised from local businesses in 14 days to fund a group to change the narrative of Taree; to promote Taree as a lovely place to live and to get the place moving. The 2021 Team Taree priorities are to leverage development wins such as Fig Trees, the transport hub, Iron Arena, Taree University Campus, the hospital, the entrance to the town and the new Kolodong subdivision. There are 10 major projects on the books for Taree going through at the moment, Mr Caldon said. Team Taree is local businesses, local people putting their time and their money where their mouth is. Mr Caldon said Team Taree sees it as an absolute necessity to have a navigable entrance into the Manning River for the prosperity of the town. See more
