21.01.2022 FIRE PERMITS COME INTO ACTION ON SEPTEMBER 1 2020. Please contact the local fire control centre prior to lighting your fire to obtain a permit. Phone 1300 643 262.

21.01.2022 High fire danger again today 5th of September. Please report all unattended fires on 000. Your assistance is what helps keep our community safe.

21.01.2022 Are we able to fit into your property? Are we able to access your property if we need too? Will our Category 1 tanker fit through your gate, down your driveway and to the back of your property? Our big girl needs 3.5 meters of clearance height wise and 3.5 meters wide of clearance. She has a whopping 17.5m turning circle! If you have any bridges on your property can they withstand a full on 13.7 tonne of fire fighting awesomeness? ... If you answered yes to all of the above, you have made our job a lot easier already! If you answered no to any of the above, the question is what can do to fix the problem? Flick us a message and we will be able to give you some guidance. Or call the Fire Control Centre on 1300 643 262. You may be eligible for assistance through the AIDER program. The AIDER program assists the Elderly and the disabled help prepare their property.

20.01.2022 B R E A K I N G N E W S Bushfire season is starting a month early in the Manning Valley this year. This means 2 important things :... 1) Fire permits are required from 1 September. That is very SOON! 2) YOU need to start to think about getting ready! This means clearing gutters, tidying lawns and making a fire plan! We are hosting a ‘get ready’ weekend in a few weeks and we have all the resources to help you prepare. Keep an eye on our Facebook page for more details. We want you to come and talk to your local brigade - we are here to help you.

12.01.2022 As we welcome the warm weather, we need to ask ourselves are we fire season ready? Have you completed your get ready plan? Is your home as defendable as it possibly could be? What are you going to do? Where are you going to go? ... If you needed to make the decision today, would you stay and defend or would you leave? Like = Stay and defend Comment = Leave

11.01.2022 With a drop in temperature we see an increase in fireplace and flue/chimney fires, these fires have the potential to spread into your roof and wall cavities resulting in a house fire. Now is the time to have your flue cleaned and combustion heater serviced.

11.01.2022 Guess who is coming to visit? That is right! SANTA! Santa will be travelling around our local area with us on the 19th and 20th of December. Santa would like to remind everyone that Covid-19 restrictions will be in place. This includes social distancing!... Both Santa and ourselves at Taree Rural Fire Brigade look forward to seeing you all!

09.01.2022 Ever wondered how fast a grass fire can move? With the @Bureau of Meteorology predicting a warm and wet spring there is likely to be good grass and crop growth across NSW. With this growth will come the increased risk of grass fires. Maintain your property, be prepared and have a plan.

09.01.2022 Did you know the NSW Rural Fire Service has a program called AIDER? The AIDER (Assist Infirm, Disabled and Elderly Residents) program is a free, one-off service... which supports some of our most at-risk community members. The program helps people live more safely and confidently in their home in areas where bush fires may start. The AIDER program is designed for people who have limited domestic support available from family, relatives, friends or other services. This could include older people, people living with a disability, and people who are already receiving community assistance and services. Their property must also be on bush fire prone land (land that can support a bush fire or be subject to bush fire attack). AIDER services can include: clearing gutters thinning vegetation around the home removing leaf and tree debris trimming branches from close to the home mowing or slashing long grass. The current COVID-19 outbreak is an ongoing situation that continues to require changes to how the program is implemented. The NSW Rural Fire Service is continuing to monitor the situation, including taking steps to reduce the risk to our community members through delivery of the AIDER Program. The AIDER Program is currently suspended due to COVID-19 restrictions and the safety of our community is our priority. You may still register for the service below and a member of the NSW Rural Fire Service will contact you with an update when the service is available in our area. If you would like to know more about the free, one-off AIDER service, call 02 8741 4955 or email [email protected] or download the fact sheet. You can also fill out the form that’s attached link https://www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/plan-and-prepare/aider
