25.01.2022 Aroha jumped into our last 6 week challenge looking to make some lifestyle changes so she could look, perform and feel her very best! . She couldn't help but notice before the challenge that no matter how frequently she was training she always seemed to be slightly behind her peers in classes and struggled to keep up... . She decided enough was enough and it was time to let go of the thing that was holding her back...... . It was time to give up the smokes after 20 long years ... . For the whole duration of the challenge Aroha had not touched a cigarrete, a path she has continued on since then. . As a result Aroha has noticed drastic improvements in her cardio output. She dropped 2% bodyfat during the challenge and gained lean muscle mass. . This change is why we acknowledged Aroha for the lifestyle change award! . Big congrats Aroha! See more



21.01.2022 TLF Athletes of the months September and October - Chris and Gemma! Boss Mum Chris started training at TLF in October 2019, Gemma saw her mum’s passion for group fitness classes and joined the gym in March 2020. Chris attends group fitness classes 5-6 days a week consistently.... Gemma tries to get to the gym minimum 4-5 days a week and most days smashes a double session even though she has a busy life schedule with work far from home, uni and also maintaining her social life. They both love their Boxing and Pilates classes, try to get to as many other classes as they can and also do a fortnight PT session with Coach Mariam. Since starting at TLF, they both have achieved some incredible fitness results, are on track with understanding their nutrition and also have gained solid strength! They currently have a competition with each other to see who gets the heaviest 1 Max Rep Deadlift Mother and daughter goals right here! 21.01.2022 Top Challenger Performance . David Streamer. . -11.4kgs... -6.3% bodyfat -29.5cm girth measurements from 5 sites. . David entered this challenge keen to drop the covid kilos and this time - keep them off. . Maintenance of challenge results had not been Dave's strong point over the previous years... . He was keen to prove to himself he can get a great result AND maintain it! . So far Dave has kept the weight off and continued along the path of consistent training and healthier nutritional practises . Dave's ultimate goal is to get to 90kgs and we're confident he's now got the skills to get there!!! See more

20.01.2022 ATHLETE HIGHLIGHT Cody, known as the ‘Quadzilla’ of TLF was a former member and also a challenger winner who absolutely loved training and pushing her self outside of her comfort zone. She was consistently showing up to classes and also getting her strength training session in with her incredibly supportive and wonderful partner, Matt. They had a very cute batna, in fact still do when they train together! It’s very entertaining seeing the two of them compete in a very heal...thy way and cody always somehow manages to ‘smash’ Matt! Unfortunately, Cody had to step away from the gym due to a busy life schedule with long hours of work and now owner of 3 horses. She recently came back to the gym and started PT with Coach @mile3ena Since her return, Cody has been smashing and absolutely loving her PT sessions! Cody and her coach, Mariam’s proud moment was on Friday last week when she hit her PB 100kg deadlift and 160kg leg press, just into 5 week’s of PT sessions. Here’s what cody has to say about her PT journey! How long have you been exercising for? I started at TLF in 2017. How long have you been training with Mariam for? I have been doing PT with Mariam for 5 weeks. What drives you to come to the gym and exercise? I love the sense of achievement when I get stronger and how I'm in a great mood after I've had a workout. I also love the TLF community. What are you achievements since you’ve been training with Mariam? I started training with Mariam after a long break from training consistently, and since I started training with Mariam, I've managed to regain my strength rapidly and even beyond what I could ever lift before. Mariam always encourages me to test my limits and supports me to do my best. What is your number 1 goal to achieve and by when? I would like to increase my 1RM for deadlift, bench and squat by the end of October. Describe TLF in one word. 19.01.2022 ATHLETE HIGHLIGHT Annabele joined TLF last year and absolutely loves the community and environment! She enjoys her classes, does PT sessions once a week with her coach @mile3ena and also does strength training 3-4 times a week with her hubby Darren and her gorgeous furbaby Harlem!... TLF community adores Annabele for her infectious laughter and her positive energy! Annabele started training with Mariam to build muscle, strength and maintain a long term, sustainable healthy lifestyle. In just 8 weeks, she has achieved some incredible results with her strength training, smashed her PBs and hit a 160kg leg press last Friday! Wowsers!!! Here’s what Annabele had to say about her training journey at TLF. How long have you been exercising for? Well I’ve always LOVED walking and doing cardio but never did weight training till joining TLF last year. How long long have you been training with Mariam for? 8 weeks now and loving every minute of our sessions. Friday mornings are my favourite time of the week What drives you to come to the gym and exercise? The endorphins that kick in after a session make me feel sane . I know that when I’m not having a great day exercise will make everything less overwhelming. Basically I choose exercise to help with my mental health . What are you achievements since you’ve been training with Mariam? I never in my wildest dreams thought I would be able to lift the weights that I do now! In the time I have trained with Mariam I have smashed my pb every week! I am getting stronger in my middle age not weaker . What is your number goal to achieve and by when? To be confident in my body and it’s shape . I don’t want the middle age spread. I want to re write the middle age story that society has written for its masses. I want to be able to strengthen my core so that I can move and function with vigour and endless energy. There is no end date in my mind but rather a new way of living the rest of my life. 19.01.2022 Here's a simple breathing exercise from our exercise physiologist @thom_d1bb0 that you can do throughout your day to help improve your posture if you're stuck at your desk all day.. . This breathing exercise can also help take you out of a stressed or sympathetic nervous system response and into a parasympathetic or "rest & digest" state. . Tag or share with anyone you know might be stuck at their desk today and could use some extra chill.

19.01.2022 August Athlete of the month! . Shay Saleh @shayshaysal . Shay had made a decision.... . She was going to get fit and she's not going to quit! . She was going to focus on improving her physical performance knowing it will eventually lead to improved body composition. . From the very get go back in July Shay has remained consistent and persistent in her quest for fitness after starting a 7 day trial in which she surprisingly came in almost every day - something pretty hard to do for anyone just starting out dealing with muscle soreness and adjusting quickly to a high volume of work in the gym! . She adjusted very quickly to this new gym life and her positive attitude gelled well with her new gym fam. . She's pushed herself and challenged herself all with a gracious smile. . She is obsessed with everything fitness and is a self professed fitness junkie! . In our gym we've renamed the Burpee the Radhika so you know what you might get when you come to one of her sessions! . Radz has a plethora of experience in running marathons and she knows a thing or two about pushing the body to its limits and enjoys encouraging her peers and trainees to do the same! . She loves herself a good crossfit style of workout and adds to the dynamic and range of trainers with different skill sets that you will find in our fitness factory! . Tom started at Target Life several years ago as a trainee originally from @oatleyrugbyclub before joining the ranks as a trainer with us more recently.... . Tom is soon to be a qualified exercise physiologist who loves helping people get their fit back from all different backgrounds and experience levels. . He has an extensive range of knowledge for a young bloke when it comes to the human body and how to physically condition it. . He regularly practises what he preaches within our gym walls and has inspired several friends and family members to also make strength training a priority. . 14.01.2022 Outstanding Achievement Award . @carlaspoto . Carla stepped on the scales at the start of the 6 week challenge, not enthralled about the stats she witnessed since the last time she stepped on at the end of the last challenge.... . Not expecting anything great after corona lockdown she was focused and determined to reverse the damage she had sustained. . She trained her absolute arse off, pushing herself in double sessions Mon-Sat hardly ever missing a day. . Carla always encouraged her peers to get to sessions and join her in her mission to obliterate the covid kilos - Embodying Encouragement and community spirit we love to see at TLF. . She was extremely successful in her mission dropping a whopping 7% bodyfat as per her before and after inbody scan! . Carla is now determined to keep that 7% off and Shred some more moving into the warmer months of the year and we're confident she's created the habits to set herself up for success! . 12.01.2022 Wednesday workout tip from coach @mile3ena! . Focus not only on your tempo but also your set up and finish of your sets! . Now different tempos maybe be used to achieve different things ie. Faster tempos to develop potential power but let's face it, many of us maybe just rushing through their sets and botching their form for the sake of reaching their goal rep range.... . Simply slowing down your tempo is a great way of increasing intensity, time under tension and muscle recruitment. Intensity and volume doesn't always need to be determined by more reps and weight. . Proper set up and finish for your exercises can also greatly reduce the risk of injury and potentially improve the recruitment of your target muscles and/or help recruit more assisting muscles making every rep just that bit more effective. . Simply controlling the dropping of a weight at the end of set may also save you an injury or even someone else in the gym! . Lift safe, lift smart! See more

10.01.2022 Athlete Highlight Meet our athlete Kacee! Kacee has been a valued member of TLF since Feb 2020. She has gained some incredible fitness and strength results since starting her fitness journey with us ... Kacee loves participating in group fitness classes and has been taking on personal training sessions once a fortnight with her coach Mariam. In just 3 months of taking on PT and 1 month of disciplined diet, she has lost 4% body fat, dropped 5kg and achieved great results on her girth measurements Whilst Kacee maintains a healthy social life and enjoys a drink of two, she highly believes in living a holistic life and consuming nutritious and wholesome foods that will bring long term benefits to her gut health What a way to end the year Kace! 09.01.2022 Who be the MVP? IT BE BRI! . @brickabrac92 . Brianna entered the last 6 week challenge looking to see what body composition improvements she could make after an impressive streak of strength gains across all major lifts!... . She took the path less travelled and followed her weights training program religiously, hardly missing a single scheduled session - on top of also getting to many of the group fitness conditioning sessions. . Bri also impressed us with attention to her nutrition, tracking and also sharing of recipes and great product finds with the rest of the challengers despite the nature of competition. . Come to the final scan day we didn't quite see the stats we would've expected for someone who put so much effort and consistency in - many body scanning methodologies rely on so many variables to be accurate - water retention being one major one. . Bri showed clear change in her before and after photos and measurements as well as overall bodyshape. . The challenge has inspired Brianna to continue her weight training and see how she can continue to achieve different physical and performance based goals and we wish her all the best in her pursuit! . 07.01.2022 Male Athlete Of The Year . David Cummins . Dave is one of Targetlife Fitness’ finest and greatest. ... Since he’s started working with Tom, he’s gained a phenomenal 21 kilos, and has since commenced his first cut, well and truly on his way to the chiselled abs he’s set out on. Dave’s also put over 30 kilos on his bench and 50 kilos on his squat. . One of the things which is most admirable about the way Dave goes about things is the way he adheres to the process. Whilst Dave has great goals, it’s his attention to executing and commiting to the training process that I think is most admirable. . It’s also the thing which makes me most certain he’ll get to his goals. He works hard and diligently. . I could not be prouder of Dave and all the work he’s putting in. 07.01.2022 Athlete Highlight . Angela Berryman @angelalouise12 . Angela joined the TLF Fam in November of last year in our group fitness membership.... . After some time she realised she wanted to step things up and be held more accountable by doing some PT with coach @andrej_hamzic. . The new level of accountability started to shine through her dietary adherence, consistency in the gym & her focus on technique ultimately leading to some notable results overall. . When covid hit and we were kicked out of our gym Angela really turned it on, getting to more of our outdoor group fitness sessions, training with intention and purpose which she has continued to do since then! . 5 Angela has dropped a healthy 5kgs since the NSW lockdown and has PB'd basically every single one of her lifts since then. . It's a real pleasure to see Ange train as she puts so much emphasis on her technique and developing a strong mind muscle connection! . Keep up the phenomenal work Ange! She was seeking some personal strength and confidence which she found in the gym and now she wants to share that discovery with as many other females as she can! . She's known as the meal prep queen in our gym who knows how to make any low calorie, nutritionally dense meal absolutely delicious which is another thing she is passionate about sharing!
