24.01.2022 An ambitious and innovative project which involved radical new lighting designed jointly by KHR arkitekter and Louis Poulsen. Mikkel Beedholm of KHR arkitekter explains the design idea: The aim was for the fixture to not simply slice through the ceiling like a tin can we wanted the collar to give the fixture character and interplay with the building's architecture, adding an extra dimension to the interior through variegated reflection of the light. The choice of colours has also been unusual for a ceiling fixture. The coloured rings have a positive effect on reducing glare and highlighting the shape of the luminaire. They also add colour to what are often colourless rooms, in both their lit and unlit state.

20.01.2022 July 24 marks the inauguration of the new Cinecittà World, the first movie-themed amusement park by Dante Ferretti (three-time Oscar winning set designer), lit entirely by Targetti LEDs. The 150 hectare park includes twenty attractions inspired by scenes from famous films created in the Cinecittà studios in Rome, like Gangs of New York, Ben-Hur and Dantes Inferno, along with studios, laboratories and restaurants. The park construction and engineering phase, which laste...d about 3 years, paid close attention to environmental sustainability by enhancing the existing green area in this location with its interesting landscape full of cork trees. This was the key aspect Targetti used as a base for its operation. The company skilfully used light to highlight the green area and the stage settings of the various attractions to insure their powerful scenographic impact and period atmosphere. Cult settings from Ancient Rome to Western charm and on up to Science Fiction are all portrayed by lighting based only on LED sources and a skilful use of colour that helps recreate the most exciting moments from epic films. Targetti lighting is thus responsible for enhancing this continuous dialogue between dreams and reality and between myth and history in which contrasts and colour variations are used to reveal or hide the magic of the cinema and the fun to be had in the real world. 20.01.2022 Amalienbad The new lighting system in the historic art deco Amalienbad swimming pool in Vienna is the result of the Federal Monuments Office desire to use light to enhance one the most beautiful and famous thermal baths with a flexible system that can manage the various daily activities as well as temporary events. The lighting project, commissioned by MA 44 Bäder, was developed by the famous podpod Design Studio in Vienna, who masterfully integrated the architecture of the... building with the most sophisticated lighting systems, returning to the Vienna city an environment usable for different activities. 774 light fixtures were used, 60% of which were LEDs with an energy saving of 57% and a considerable increase in the lighting levels compared to the previous system. The heart of the building is the multilevel space of the indoor pool. By using balanced, soft lighting the designers at podpod Design wanted to revive the monumentality of this building. The roof rises and comes to life through the use of grazing light, the curved glass skylights even light up in daylight thanks to a LED backlight and the diving board becomes a sculptural element which contributes to defining the monumentality of this unique environment. This project underlines the ability of the Viennese designers to manipulate light to enhance the beauty of architecture for the enjoyment of everyone. See more
16.01.2022 Louis Poulsen is launching a new bollard designed by Christian Flindt which demonstrates his great talent for seeing the potential in simple forms. Yet Flindt also reminds us that the simple is not always so simple: the bollard's minimalistic exterior hides its thought-out technical design, which optimises energy consumption, light distribution and ease of installation. Development of the Flindt bollard began in 2011, flowing from the desire to create a new bollard for the p...ark surrounding Brænderigården in Viborg, Denmark. The project was a joint initiative by designer Christian Flindt, Viborg municipality, Viborg Energiforsyning, Viborg Kunstmuseum, landscape architects and Louis Poulsen. The Flindt bollard has since been refined, including further optimised light distribution and energy consumption. The result is so impressive that the Flindt bollard won the 2014 ELFORSK prize in June. Part of the explanation given was that 'the jury was very impressed by the product's thoughtful design in all areas energy efficiency, light properties and a unique light experience, aesthetics and design, vandalism resistance, etc.' (Danish Energy Association) The Flindt bollard is fitted with two LED light sources (approx. 585 lumens) positioned at the top of the light aperture so as to emit both horizontal and vertical light. This placement and the light aperture design result in a lateral light distribution covering an angle of more than 180. The fixture thereby illuminates itself, and contributes to the total light experience as a visual element. Its extremely simple and functional design means the bollard can be used in almost any architectural context, and blends into natural settings in a peaceful and harmonic way. The organic light pattern, combined with its simple design, makes the bollard ideal for one-sided, zigzag and curved configurations. 08.01.2022 Finally we are able to enjoy the magnificent new UTS Business School building. Located in Sydney's CBD, the building designed by Frank Gehry, opened it's doors last week after much expectation. The result is wonderfull, the building is a, "paper bag", as many have called it master piece, that we had the privilledge to be a part of with our magnificent Louis Poulsen Munkegaard.
