21.01.2022 Welcome to NAIDOC Week a celebration of Indigenous and Torres Strait Islander people and culture and an opportunity to reflect and resonate with the world’s o...ldest living culture. A culture that continues to express itself in spirited and modern ways, and believes each person belongs to a piece of land, and that they are entrusted with the knowledge and responsibility to care for it. Several Indigenous peoples work or volunteer with QFES and we think it’s important that we take this time to highlight their story and reflect on their connection with Country.

09.01.2022 Did you know? In Qld, the use of fire can be restricted by imposing either a Local Fire Ban or a State of Fire Emergency. Local Fire Bans can be imposed when predicted conditions and weather forecasts indicate fires may be difficult to control and pose a danger to communities. When fire weather conditions become extremely dangerous, a State of Fire Emergency can be declared. More info: https://rb.gy/udwluc

06.01.2022 MENTAL HEALTH WEEK | STICK TO A ROUTINE Natural disasters might be expected and a part of our lives here in Queensland, but that doesn’t mean we don’t feel ...their impacts deeply. After experiencing a natural disaster it’s important to focus on your nutrition, sleep and exercise. QFES psychologist Dr Bernie says having a routine is a great start! Do your best to set a routine and stick to it! Keeping your body healthy will help promote a healthy mind. It might not always happen, but try your best to: get 7-9 hours of sleep each night, get some physical activity in every day, fuel yourself with a balanced and nutritious diet, and spend time on your hobbies and interests. Taking these steps as part of a routine can help you feel in control of your own personal situation which may help ease your mind.
