14.06.2022 Taroom Show hosted a Working Horse Challenge comprised of three phases: led, working and utility. The led phase involved a short workout during which the judge assessed the conformation, type and general presentation of each horse. The working phase engaged competitors in a dry work pattern made up of various paces and manoeuvres and the utility pattern involved skills such as opening and shutting a gate and side passing though rails on the ground. Places were awarded to t...he top three in each phase and the culmination of all scores determined the overall placings. Riders were drafted into Juniors (10 & under), Juveniles (Under 18), Encouragement (horse and rider who have not won a stockman’s challenge or campdraft) and Open. Organisers were excited to receive a total of 41 nominations from both locals and visitors. It was an honour to present the inaugural Robert Copeland Memorial Trophy to the highest scoring local rider, Riley Cann.
