22.01.2022 In response to many queries: Think of the tarot as some clarity or advice coming from yourself. The reader is interpreting you to you. So how it makes sense to you is important. If you don't understand ask, if your trying to test them, don't bother. Get as much as you can out of the experience :)
17.01.2022 I'm wondering if people are interested in particular areas of the tarot, it's origins, meanings of cards, how they are interpreted or queries on its purpose. Or shall I just do random posts?
16.01.2022 Card Interpretation... Does it depend on who reads your cards? In short Yes. There are a few reasons for this. As with any profession you consult whether it be a Chiropractor, Chef or Tarot reader, there training or learning maybe similar but they bring themselves to the reading. This includes their approach, their understandings, what informs their experience and their ability to read the person and interpret the information. They also need to be able to interpret the inform...ation in a way that the person/ client can understand and is most helpful to them. I think this is why it is important to go to a reader you are drawn or feel connected to. As a reader I think it's important to be able to go beyond the obvious of what the person represents and the beliefs that person has of themselves: that energetically they carry around them. My focus is always to ask for clarity, guidance and healing for the person. There are different decks of cards and variations on their interpretations, but essentially the identity of the cards are the same and have varied little since their origins. e.g the hanged man is in all decks, may look different visually but essentially is the same card. The interpretation then varies on the deck that interprets it, (be it the Thoth deck, the Rider Waite or Visconti-Sfroza deck) and the reader. When learning it's good to align with a teacher or referance book you relate to and can refer back to. You also need to build your own relationship with it, by looking at the cards and see what stands out to you and how you relate to it. The cards have a lot of information in them, including the suit, the numbers, the image, the archetype displayed, the colours, that sort of thing. I will attempt to cover that a little bit in the tarots origins. If that's not clear feel free to ask or input. See more
14.01.2022 I'm putting together a page in conjunction with advertising my readings and to let people know about upcoming classes. I'm not going to share anything about actual readings but I can answer queries or questions people might have about Tarot readings, the meaning of particular cards or different kinds of healing modalities and counseling theories.

12.01.2022 A brief History of Tarot. I am hoping that Steve Wilde will add to this as his knowledge is vast and mine is not. Others feel free to add. The cards that we know to be Tarot cards have been around since the 14th century. Prior to that they are believed to have come from Egypt before coming to Italy. This is visible in their imagery which draws upon the Gods and Archetypes of Babylonians, Egyptians, Greeks and Romans. Other philosophical influences are said to come from the Ka...bbalah. The tarot which I presume would have been called something in Arabic then came to Italy, known then as Trionfi, and later Tarrocchi. Italy was at that time the center of exploration and innovation in Science, Philosophy, Art,Politics, Social and Educational reforms as well a renewed interest in the classics... Essentially it was the Renaissance. The cards would have been hand painted commissioned items and would have been considered exotic and exclusive because of it. The first recorded deck was commissioned by the rich and powerful Sforza family and are known as the Visconti-Sforza deck. The popularity of the cards quickly spread to France, Spain and Portugal. (Mass expansion did not happen until the creation of the printing press later)The cards were used for tricks, gambling and divination although that information varies. Divination is officially recorded as a well established purpose by the 17th century. They had no religious opposition outside of there use in Gambling, that may have been something that started around the time of the inquisition or reformation but that's a guess really. The cards of which there are 78, set into 4 suits, Major and Minor Arcana, Pictorial cards. Many of which have barely changed. I hope this gives a bit of an idea. Please add any relevant information.
