24.01.2022 If you’re stuck at home with nothing to do over the next few weeks, head down to the Tarragindi Free Library in the undercover area at Tarragindi Fitness and grab yourself some free books to tie you over. There are loads of books there to keep you occupied. I have managed to score some great reads from the library and I hope you can too.



23.01.2022 Author Profile Kate Morton Did you know Kate Morton was born in South Australia and moved to Tamborine Mountain when she was 4, sharing a loft bedroom in the attic with her sister. She was inspired to become an author by Enid Blyton who wrote about the magic far away tree, which she was absolutely enchanted by when she was younger. She is the author of 5 novels, all of which have been New York Times bestsellers and now lives in London with her husband and 3 children. ... Kate Morton is now one of my favourite authors and I first came across her books through the Tarragindi Free Library.

17.01.2022 Author Profile - Bryce Courtenay Did you know - Bryce Courtenay was born in South Africa, moved to London (where he met his first wife) to study Journalism, and then moved to Sydney in 1958 where he had 3 children. He published 24 novels which were mainly set in South Africa and Australia. Bryce died of gastric cancer in September 2012. ... I met Bryce in 2001 and was inspired to travel to South Africa to see why the country inspired him. I spent a month travelling around the continent, through multiple countries in Southern Africa and can see why he wanted to write about such a beautiful place.

16.01.2022 EXCITING NEWS: The Tarragindi Free Library has expanded! We now have bookshelves in 2 different locations in Tarragindi. Talk of Tarragindi - Speech Pathology kindly donated a bookshelf to the library, and I have teamed up with Leaf espresso bar to give you a second free library. You can find the second library on the back deck of Umu Kitchen (previously Leaf Espresso) at 8 Denham Tce, Tarragindi. Just ask the staff and they will direct you to it. It has a lot of adults ficti...on, kids books and some kids colouring in books and toys in it, ready and waiting for you to use! The original free library is still located at Lang & Co Espresso on Fingal Street, however the cafe is closed for renovations until Monday the 18th February, at which time there will be new management. You can still access this library between now and then though. The new library is only open during Umu's opening hours, however the old library is still open 24/7. Happy reading everyone!

12.01.2022 Libraries are open again! But why go to the library when you can grab a free book from the Tarragindi Free Library? haha. The Tarragindi Free Library is located out the front of Tarragindi Fitness where you can come and grab a book at any time of the day or night. We also had a bookshelf at Umu Kitchen however this one is closed for maintenance and social distancing atm. I'll keep you updated on when it will be open again.

08.01.2022 Another donation of gardening books and magazines was given to me by Green Dean - Urban Farmer last week and theyre so good I had to read them at home first! theyll be in the library soon. If youre ever in the Camp Hill area you should visit Deans cafe Has Beans Café Brisbane. He does pretty good chai lattes.

Last time I looked, there were loads of his books in the Tarragindi Free Library out the back of Umu Kitchen.

The library out the front of Tarragindi Fitness is still up and running through. It’s in the seating area of the old cafe and is open 24/7 if you’d like to borrow a book. We hope to get the one at Umu back up and running again soon though.

The cafe is currently going through a change of management and the new café at Tarragindi Fitness - One Drop Espresso - will be run by the two young gun baristas from Reload Espresso Bar - Pablo and Cente. They will be ready to pour your drop of Di Manfredi beans from tomorrow (Tuesday). Come down and say hi to them.

In the spring of 1973, Doubleday & Co. accepted the novel Carrie for publication and after sales of this book he was able to quit his teaching career and write full time.... 04.01.2022 I stopped in at Umu Kitchen this morning to pick up my morning chai and had a quick look in the library while I was there. They have flowers for sale for Mothers Day if you want to buy some for mum on the weekend (as well as pick up your free books )
