25.01.2022 Tarrawanna Blueys Women's Div 2 side hosted Russell Vale on Sunday morning (4 October) and from the kickoff the Blueys dominated play for the first half and were to pay for some missed opportunities in front of goal. In the second half Russell Vale lifted and possession was evenly shared amongst both teams, with not much separating them. 25.01.2022 In IPL Rd 9 on Sunday (20th Sept), the Blueys travelled to Wetherall Park, to take on Port Kembla and came away with two emphatic victories. For much of the Youth Grade fixture it's fair to say that in general play there was not a lot between the two sides with the major difference being where it matters most and that is in front of goal where the young Blueys were more clinical than their opponents. Riley Jordan got the scoreboard ticking over on 12 minutes when he scored wi...Continue reading

22.01.2022 Our Bluey's First Grade's season came to an end on Sunday (11 October) when beaten by Albion Park White Eagles at JJ Kelly Park in the sudden death Elimination Semi Final. With everything on the line, the side came up agonisingly short in a penalty shoot out losing 8-7 after the two sides were locked at 1-1 after extra time. After leading with a Brody Page headed goal scored mid-way through the first half, the big moment & turning point in the Match undoubtedly came in the 69...th minute when Dan Chapman looked certain to score when he powered in a shot from eight metres only to see the White Eagle's young custodian, Nick Armand pull off a stunning save to keep Albion Park in the game. From the ensuing play, the ball travelled to the other field and ended with Joel Beattie scoring the equalising goal. 22.01.2022 The Blueys hosted Albion Park in Round 11 of 'The Grange Women's Div 2' on Sunday (20th Sept) and it was our visitors who struck within the first few minutes after kick off when Albion Park surged forward from midfield linking up with their striker to beat Tarra’s keeper. The Blueys re-composed themselves and started to display some excellent passing and positional play. Towards the end of the first half the first reward came thanks to Taryn Yates who lobbed the ball over the... keeper from just outside the 18-yard box to level the score. Tarrawanna continued to dominate the second half having the majority of possession. The Blueys' second goal came from some great passing courtesy of our midfielders who linked up with striker Bec Hobbs who showed determination and persistence to beat Albion Park’s defenders and finally put it past their keeper. 21.01.2022 "BREAKING NEWS" Fraternity Club Youth Cup Semi-Final - Tuesday 18 August Our Blueys Youth Grade side have booked a spot in the Fraternity Club Youth Cup Final with a resounding 6-2 victory over Coniston in last night's Semi Final at Crehan Park.... The win was set up on the back of a quick-fire start which saw us two goals to the good inside the opening 12 minutes with both goals scored by Tyson Black. Leading 4-1 at the break, the Youthies withstood a strong rally from Cono to get back into the game after the re-start before closing out a strong performance to take the spoils. Star of the show was undoubtedly Black, who was simply too hot to handle for the opposition defenders with his pace and ball mastery direct from the Coerver School of Excellence. Next up it's Wollongong Utd in a repeat of the 2019 Cup Final where our lads will be looking to go 'back to back', with the game scheduled to take place early in September. 15.01.2022 In a deferred IPL Rd 9 fixture played last night (Wednesday 23 Sept) our Second Grade side overcame a half time two goal deficit to score a stunning three goals to two victory over Port Kembla. 14.01.2022 BREAKING NEWS We have great pleasure in announcing that Youth Grade player, Daniel Cunzolo has taken out the Leading Goal Scorer Award in the FSC Premier League Youth Grade Competition with 11 goals this season. 14.01.2022 'The Grange' Women's Division 2 Round 7 - Sunday 23 August Tarrawanna Oval Tarrawanna started strongly with a greater share of possession in the first half but it was our guests who struck first against the run of play with the opening goal. The Blueys kept their cool and continued to maintain possession and soon it paid off with the first goal coming from an attacking cross, with Kate Hughes meeting the ball in front of goal and putting it past the keeper. Not long after, Ni...colette Cartwright put Tarra in front with a great shot from just outside the 18-yard box which sailed over Thirroul’s goalkeeper. Thirroul lifted in the second half and both teams missed a number of opportunities. The Blueys unfortunately had to settle for a draw after Thirroul were given too much room in midfield late in the second half and scored the equalizer. Tarrawanna Blueys 2 v Thirroul 2 Graham Brown
14.01.2022 So the eve of this event was a year ago today. The last Sunday of 2019 was pretty hot, imagine if it was as hot as today. We would have done it anyway. You all know it. We love you Chloe. Tune in tomorrow for some amazing memories. Thank you all.
13.01.2022 In an IPL Rd 6 Youth Grade catch-up game played at Terry Reserve last night (8th September), Albion Park White Eagles held on to claim a 1 - 0 victory over the Blueys. Tarrawanna started the match brightly, missing a great chance in the first couple of minutes, but it was Albion Park who registered a goal not long after. A tightly contested first half saw chances at both ends, but it was the home team who had the edge at the interval. The Blueys stepped up the pressure in the... second half and had the better of the play with the White Eagles on the back foot for much of it, but in the end Tarrawanna couldn't make the most of their possession and were unable to find the back of the net and get something from the match. 13.01.2022 IPL Round 5 - Saturday 22 August Tarrawanna Blueys v Bulli Tarrawanna Oval IPL Rd 5 brought a cold windy afternoon to Tarrawanna Oval for the visit of our friendly neighbours from Bulli. With the extraordinary 'casualty' list faced by the Blueys we were only able to field two teams with the Youth Grade fixture deferred to a later date.... The 2nd Grade match kicked off proceedings and the football was never going to be pretty on a ground that runs east/west with the gusty breeze blowing straight down the ground. The two teams were evenly matched during the game with limited opportunities at both ends of the pitch. However, as the Match wore on it was Bulli who got the upper hand and they were able to secure the three points on the back of goals from Max Ashton (54') & Brodie Foster (70") to run out deserved winners two goals to nil. Conditions were much the same for the First Graders although the wind appeared to get stronger the longer the game went with Bulli having to run into the breeze during the 2nd period. At this stage they led by the one goal scored by Luke Van Zyl in the 17th minute and were good value for their advantage at the break. To the Bluey's credit they came out a lot stronger for the second stanza and deservedly got back on level terms with a well taken goal by promising youngster, Nic Tomasiello on the hour mark. In a mirror image of the early game, goal scoring chances were at a premium and with the game generally played between the two penalty areas the 1-1 draw at the end of 90 minutes was probably a fair result on the day. 10.01.2022 Mid-week IPL action as the Blueys take on Coniston in our Round 3 washed-out fixture.
10.01.2022 IPL Round 3 - Tarrawanna Blueys v Coniston JJ Kelly Park The re-arranged IPL Rnd 3 fixtures (previously washed out) against Coniston were played this week kicking off with the Youth Grade game on Tuesday night (see prior post for photos).... This was a game that got away from our Youthies, giving up a 3 - 1 lead early in the second half before going down 4-3 after a rousing fight back from the hosts. Stefan Visnic got us off to the best possible start when he scored with a great header in the very first minute of the game. Neo Russo restored parity 25 minutes later before Daniel Cunzolo scored with a super drive from the edge of the penalty area just after the 30 minute mark to give the Blueys the lead which we held until the break. Seven minutes after the restart Riley Jordan scored to provide us with what should have been a match winning lead but has so often happens in team sport, if you take your foot off the peddle you run the risk of getting punished and this is what happened in this case. Too be fair to Coniston their never say die attitude and a match winning three goals in a 12 minute period was enough to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat in a 4-3 victory for the home side. Coniston 4 (Neo Musso 26' Dane Mathews 59' Sami Benten 65' Atan Dedis 71') def Tarrawanna Blueys FC 3 ( Stefan Visnic 1' Daniel Cunzolo 32' Riley Jordan 52"). In the Reserve Grade game on Wednesday night, there were two evenly matched sides on show but it was Coniston who did just enough to run out winners two goals to one. Mani Honraddakis (Cono) and Trent Thompson traded goals in the opening half before substitute Matty Popkl scored what proved to be the winner 20 minutes from time when he scored with a terrific free kick from just outside the penalty area which caught Tarra Keeper, Luke Genua unsighted at the far post. Thompson almost scored an audacious equaliser from fully 55 metres with three minutes left on the clock when he spotted the Cono Keeper, Ahmed Algarani well off his line but the long range effort went just wide to save Algarani's blushes. Coniston 2 (Mani Honraddakis 44' Matty Popki 71') Tarrawanna Blueys FC 1 (Trent Thompson 19') The First Grade finished in a goalless draw after a competitive 90 minutes couldn't separate the two sides. For the best part the game there wasn't a lot between the two sides but Tarra Coach, Peter Willis would have been the most disappointed of the two Coaches as the Blueys lay siege to the Home side goal in the last 10 minutes or so but the lack of a 'cutting edge' proved costly in the dying stages. There were four or five good chances that went begging in this period due to a lack of composure coupled with poor finishing which led to the final stalemate. It should be said that Blake Horton was a colossos in the Cono goal as he put his body on the line time after time. Graham Brown

08.01.2022 'The Grange' Women's Division 2 Round 8 - Sunday 30 August Tarrawanna Oval Tarrawanna Blueys 1 (N Cartwright) v Shellharbour Scorpions 3... It was a confident first half from the Blueys with some nice ball movement on display and this was duly rewarded with a goal to Nicolette Cartwright. After a great team passing move, Nicolette connected well with a low cross which saw the ball fire into the bottom left corner of the net. Tarrawanna's first half lead was quickly taken away not long into the second half when Shellharbour showed their speed up front with two quick-fire breakaway goals to put the visitors in front. The Blueys worked hard but were unable to penetrate Shellharbour’s defence very often and the game was put to rest when we conceded a third goal from long distance. Graham Brown

07.01.2022 IPL Rd 11 brought to an end to the 'regular' season in what has been an extraordinary year for obvious reasons. Without doubt it has been a very trying year for all at the Blueys has it probably has been for most clubs. We have had difficulty in recent months with player numbers and getting teams onto the park and this weekend we were in the unfortunate position of having to forfeit Reserve Grade against Wollongong Olympic at Tarrawanna Oval. In the Youth Grade, Tarra (7th) w...ere up against a very good Olympic side(2nd) and whilst the game was fairly even for the opening period. it didn't take long for the visitors to assert their superiority with Olympic leading by two goals at the break. When Olympic scored again on the hour mark, the game looked gone but Nathan Lingman scored a well taken goal five minutes laters to breathe some hope into the game. To be fair, the Blueys stuck to their task and created some very good goal scoring opportunities towards the end but just lacked the cutting edge to get something from the game. Tarrawanna Blueys 1 (Nathan Lingham 68') Wollongong Olympic 3 ( Harrison Agno 15’, Dom Nikolovski 30’, Bailey McPhett 63' (P)) First Grade (15pts) went into their fixture knowing only a win against Olympic (16pts) would secure them a semi final spot for the second year in a row but would have to do it the hard way after losing two key players to potentially season ending injuries in the opening 45 minutes. Influential midfielder and Captain, Mitchell Ferraro and his replacement Zac Mazevski were forced off both with knee injuries to make life difficult for the Blueys, but a great fighting spirit from the team saw them prevail. 05.01.2022 In an IPL Rd 5 Youth Grade Catch Up game played at Balls Paddock on Tuesday night (1st September), our Young Blueys side played out an entertaining one all draw with Bulli for a share of the spoils. This was an enthralling game of Football as both sides went at each other for the full 90 minutes. Played in a competitive and tough spirit throughout, a draw was probably a fair result but Bulli probably edged the contest in terms of shots on goal. The opening 45 minutes ended in... a stalemate but midway through the second period it was Bulli who got he go-ahead goal when the Blueys defence got caught napping at the back when Kane Dorrian broke clear and applied an excellent finish from 15metres which gave Riley Nicholl no chance in the Tarra goal. Despite being on the back foot in the last 20 minutes the Blueys never gave up and too their credit kept plugging away until right at the death when Riley Jordan scored in a similar fashion to the Bulli goal. Bulli did have a chance to snatch a winner in stoppage time but a shot from a free kick was cleared off the goal line in a frantic finish. Both Keepers pulled off some terrific saves during the course of the game but as mentioned earlier it was Nicholl who was the busier of the two. Well done to both sides for a great tussle. Tarrawanna Blueys 1 (Riley Jordan 90') Bulli 1 (Kane Dorrian 64') Graham Brown
05.01.2022 The Blueys Youth Grade side overcame a resilient Bellambi team two goals to nil on Tuesday night (Sept 15) to record their third win of the season. Tarra started much the brighter of the two sides but it took until the 35th minute to make an impression on the scoreboard but the goal was well worth waiting for. Awarded a free kick 23 metres from goal and slightly away to his right, Daniel Cunzolo, with his trusty left foot, stepped up and rifled the ball (Beckhamesque style) i...nto the top right corner of the net leaving Rosella's Keeper, Ben Friedrich with no hope of getting a hand to it. A short time later, Ryan Chapman was able to double the lead when he cleaned up the scraps as the ball bobbled around on the edges of the six yard box and the Blueys were good value for their half-time lead. In the second period, Bellambi did make life difficult for Tarra but the Blueys were wasteful in front of goal as a number of very good goal scoring opportunities went begging. At the other end, Blueys Keeper. Riley Nicholl was kept on his toes and if it wasn't for his intervention on a few occasions, Bellambi may have got something from the game. Both teams started well in the first half with a equal share of possession. It was Moss Vale who made the most or their chances though, scoring 2 goals before half-time.... Moss Vale began to dominate in second half and not long after the resumption, scored another. Tarrawanna never gave up and eventually some great 1-2 passing up front between Kate Hughes and Kristen Cario saw Kristen slot one past the keeper. Moss Vale lifted for remainder of the second and scored another goal before full-time. Blueys 1 (K Cario) v Moss Vale 4 Noel Wynn
