25.01.2022 TARYM’S TIPS INSPECTING RENTAL PROPERTIES Going to rental inspections can be exciting, exhausting and even a little daunting so we’ve put together some tips to help you be a little more prepared when spending your Saturday looking at rental properties.... 1. BRING YOUR TAPE MEASURE Why would you bring a tape measure? Being able to be 100% sure your furniture/appliances will fit in your potential next home is crucial in making sure your move isn’t going to include buying a new fridge. 2. WEAR SHOES THAT ARE EASY TO TAKE OFF/PUT BACK ON Sneakers might be super comfortable for standing in those open home lines all day, but it might be a little easier to slip in and out of a pair of thongs or slides when asked to remove your shoes at a property. Bonus tip: wear shoes that are easy to find in a shoe pile-up! 3. BRING YOUR QUESTIONS FOR THE AGENT There may be some questions you have before coming, such as is pool maintenance included in the rent? or, how do I put in my application? Even questions like will the owner consider pets? are important to ask so you know all the facts before submitting an application. 4. KNOW YOUR NON-NEGOTIABLES What can’t you live without? It might be air conditioning, a dishwasher, an undercover area outside whatever it is, make sure if the property doesn’t have these non-negotiables, you let the agent know you’re no longer interested. 5. KNOW WHERE YOU’RE GOING AND GET THERE EARLY The Spring market has seen some big attendee numbers lately so it’s important to secure your parking spot nice and early or you might find yourself getting your steps up early in the day. It’s also really important that you know where the property is well in advance so you’re on time and not missing the open home end time by as little as 2 minutes unfortunately, we do run our open homes back to back and we need to make sure we’re not late to the next one! The wind might have been blowing a gale but the sun was shining so there was quite a lot of activity in the rental market today We saw a massive 30 groups over 30 minutes in our new listing at 80/59a Castle Street, Castle Hill and we have one VERY excited owner !!
