10.01.2022 In recent years Arboriculture has featured in some positive ABC stories, this may not be one of them. Thanks to everyone who stepped forward for the camera, well done its not easy. Probably best to fact check the 3000 qualified Arborists in Tasmania claim though ..... ?.

08.01.2022 Field Day Sat Dec 5 We are loving the support from companies like Spidertech Pty Ltd at 2A Worley St North Hobart. Chris is coming up and bringing all the shiny trinkets! You think Honey bros has good prices? Pfft. Who are you kidding, support a local! He might not have a lot of Arb gear in the shop but just tell Chris what you are after and you won't be dissapointed. Not many people more experienced and knowledgeable in hardware and textiles than Chris. Come have a chat and some of it might rub off on you! www.spidertechsupplies.com.au

05.01.2022 The news of Scotts Sharpe's death, ten years today, sent shock waves around the international Arb community. Scott like the prodigal son had returned to Tasmania the same year and had immediately launched himself back into Arb work, Tafe training and Tree Climbing Championships. A man of faith and family, Scott radiated warmth and generosity to everyone he met. He was a mentor and role model to a new generation of Arborists which included at the time my 21 year old son, James.... James had first seen Scott preforming his SaS SRT technique at the 2009 Vermeer Seminar, Tolosa Park, Glenorchy. I think this was the light bulb moment for him, before then he was dragging branches for his dad’s business and after that he was an Apprentice Arborist and Scott would be the Tafe instructor ! In the coming months I would have trouble biting my tongue as his enthusiasm for the technical world of a climbing Arborists was just beginning. Sadly it had been a scheduled Tafe day that Scott was unable to attend due to work commitments as a subcontractor, completing a road side clearing job. He was also looking forward to starting his own business the following week, his truck and chipper at home ready to go. James and I were also felling trees the same day as tragedy struck Scott, using similar techniques to pull over trees leaning the wrong way. I didn’t know him well but the news hit me like I'd just lost a brother. James completed his training in Tasmania, ever searching the internet for the magic he'd once seen and looking for any opportunity to set up some technical masterpiece. Working in the family business for ten years was no small feat, I often thought that his time with Scott had been cut short. Living and working in the suburbs of Melbourne now, he will again be walking in Scotts foot steps. Such is life, we know not the influence we have on others, live life, be courageous, love large and treasure every moment.

05.01.2022 Do local Arborist recycle urban tree removals as firewood and does anyone care where the wood comes from ?

04.01.2022 We are after some mug shots for the upcoming newsletter. Please send through your pictures (head and sholders) via messanger or email. Also after an epic pic for the cover. I can offer a free TAO T-shirt for the winning photo.
