23.01.2022 Trinity Anglican School has been running the Duke of Edinburgh (International) Award Scheme for more than 25 years. There are three main levels of award that students work towards and the Gold-level award is renowned internationally as a recognition of a young person’s commitment and personal motivation. We are thrilled to announce that two Year 12 students, Ella Reeves and Lexie Hope, have completed this award this year. Congratulations! This is a particularly wonderful achievement in a year interrupted by the Covid-19 pandemic, which created additional challenges for award completion. We look forward to announcing some more Gold awards in the near future.

21.01.2022 The annual TAS Model UN took place today, with the Year 12 students representing different countries and being tasked with setting some clear guidelines for a COVID 19 vaccine, who gets it, who develops it as well as proposing alternative solutions. 21.01.2022 Today was our annual Kewarra Beach Campus Charities Fair. In preparation for the fair, the students had to create a business plan, develop their COVID safe product or service and then sell it to the community to raise money. 21.01.2022 Perhaps the most awaited tradition for Year 12s is the time tunnel, which is an opportunity for students, teachers and parents to celebrate and farewell the graduating students together. All White Rock students line the pathways in order to get their last hugs and cheers in before our graduating class collect their bottle green bags and leave the school for the last time. Congratulations to the TAS Class of 2020. We are so proud of you, you will be missed, and we wish you success in your next chapter.

20.01.2022 Today the Kewarra Beach Kindergarten children and their Year 6 Buddies, participated in the Nature Play Queensland's Bio-Blitz - a great incentive to get children engaging with the outdoors and the living world around them. Prior to heading out, we spoke about the word "bio" meaning "living and alive". We talked about taking care of nature and that every living creature plays a part in our world. It didn't take long before the children and their buddies found an abundance of creatures going about their buggy business. Using the iPad to take photos, our next step is to upload our finds to our iNaturalist account and the Citizen Scientists will verify our discoveries. Watch this space!

18.01.2022 This term as a class project, Year 8 students worked in small groups to choose a charity and pitch to their peers why their charity was the one that the class should fundraise for. This year, the Year 8’s chose to raise money for Ronald McDonald House, as some of their peers have utilised the charity in the past. The students set themselves a fundraising goal of $500 and raised money by selling Ronald McDonald socks. On Wednesday the 25th students wore their socks to school with spirit and were very proud to have raised $650 for the charity.

09.01.2022 Hannah Siegmann (Year 11) recently represented TAS as a Vocal Soprano in the Australian Honours Ensemble Programme (AHEP) held at the Qld Conservatorium of Music Griffith University in Brisbane. This was a pinnacle event of the SHEP Queensland programme that ran regionally throughout the year. Participants gathered under the watchful eye of esteemed conductor Claire Preston and worked intensively over a three-day period learning 12 new songs across different genres and mul...tiple languages. This culminated in an amazing concert performance on the Sunday evening that lifted the roof of the Conservatorium Theatre. Hannah was both honoured and delighted to find out that she was chosen to perform the only Soprano Solo part on offer as well as taking on the task of Choir Dance captain which involved choreographing some routines for the songs. Keep up the great work Hannah.

06.01.2022 As well as revision workshops, our Year 12 students have been sitting a series of practice (mock) exams in preparation for their upcoming external exams. Holding these in Term 3 is too early (as having assessment too early cuts back on valuable learning time) and in Term 4 is too late (as not enough time for students to productively use the extensive assessment feedback provided by our staff). Answer? Hold the mock exams at the optimum time the second week of the holidays! Thanks to a truly collaborative approach between staff, parents, and (of course) students. #TASCultureOfLearning
