PhD candidate Chiranthika Sinhalagoda has been exploring our beautiful state to sample native pepper. She has visited a range of sites, stretching from the North West near Cradle Mountain, to the South West near Cockle Creek. Their research covered Campylobacter persistence in poultry processing, shelf-life of baby leafy salad vegetables, irrigation management, yellow dwarf resistance in barley and beef cattle value chains in Vietnam.

06.01.2022 Our Dairy Extension Officer, Samantha Flight has identified a new and potentially more profitable way for Tasmanian dairy farmers to manage their pastures. Her honours project found that regular milk urea nitrogen results can give farmers a useful indication of when pastures are low in nitrogen or when nitrogen levels are too high and fertiliser is being wasted.
