25.01.2022 Friends for Life Anna Davie & Mel Wilcox met back in 1980 when they joined the South Launceston Centre in the U6 age group. Fast forward 40 years and both Anna and Mel are still at the South Launceston Centre, now with their children competing. We caught up with Anna and Mel recently to talk about their journey through Little Athletics and what brought them back to the sport with their own children. 24.01.2022 WEATHER UPDATE: There is the possibility of strong to severe wind this afternoon at Penguin although the latest update has Penguin missing the worst of it. The LATas Board will be at the track from 2pm and will monitor the situation and any updates to the program/starting time will be posted here. If the wind is too strong to do hurdles tonight, Under 13-15 athletes will run their 100m/200m instead and do hurdles tomorrow. In the unlikely event that the wind becomes too severe for the Multi Event to commence tonight, Under 13-15 events scheduled for tonight will be postponed until tomorrow. ANY UPDATES WILL BE POSTED HERE ON OUR FACEBOOK PAGE. Unless something is posted, please assume that the event is proceeding as planned with the first event to be marshalled at 4:45pm this afternoon for a 5pm start.

21.01.2022 Coles Athlete of the Month Nominations for December are Now OPEN! To enter post a photo of the athlete participating at a Little Athletics Centre on our Facebook page and in 50 words or less tell us why the Little Athlete deserves to be the Coles Little Athlete of the Month! Its that easy! The nomination must demonstrate some of the below traits; Sportsmanship, Leadership, Commitment and Health and include the #COLESLAOTM and tag Little Athletics Tasmania in the post.... Anyone can make a nomination and the winning athletes will get a $25 Coles voucher each and go in the running for Athlete of the Year!

18.01.2022 Provisional results for the Coles North West All State are available on the Little Athletics Tasmania website (link below). Congratulations Sianna Adkins (Burnie Under 11 Girls Javelin) and Arielle Cannell (Hobart Districts Under 13 Girls Discus) who set new State Records in their respective events. 11.01.2022 Little Athletics Tasmania are pleased to announce an opportunity for Little Athletic participants to upskill and become an Athletic coach for their Club/Centre. LATas have received funding through the Volunteer Grants Program that enables us to heavily subsidise the cost of the Athletics Australia Level 1 Community Coaching Course for those wishing to offer coaching at their local Little Athletics Centre. The subsidised cost of the course is just $50 per person (regular pri...ce is $220 per person). Level 1 Launceston, 29th November 2020, 9:30am - 3:00pm Level 1 Hobart, 6th December 2020, 9:30am - 3:00pm If you would like register for the Level 1 Coaching Courses please contact the Little Athletics Tasmania Office at [email protected] and advise which Centre you represent and you will receive a discount code to register for the course.

11.01.2022 IMPORTANT COVID COMPLIANCE REMINDER: Anyone attending the Southern All State this weekend that did not register their attendance via the online portal is required to sign in at the main gate when entering. If you are unsure whether you registered online or not, please sign in just in case. This information is essential in the event it is required for contact tracing purposes. The Coles Southern All-State will be conducted under the LATas Return to Play Guidelines for Covi...d-19. The following will occur/apply: If you are unwell and displaying any cold/flu like symptoms, please do not attend the event. All attendees are requested to regularly use the hand sanitiser that will be located at the entry to the event, the canteen, the toilets and at various sites throughout the venue. All throwing implements will be sanitised prior and post each event. All attendees are encouraged to adhere to the prescribed Social Distancing requirement of 1.5m. All attendees are strongly encouraged to download and have running the COVIDsafe App. LATas will appoint Covid Compliance Officers for the event. All attendees are required to follow any directions issued by these Officers. The first event will be marshalled at 9:45am. There will be a canteen, BBQ (inc veg options) and the all important coffee van on site. Both the BBQ and Coffee van can take credit card payments on the day.

05.01.2022 State Multi Event start times - please note there is an error in the Information Manual and events will start at the following times: Saturday - gates open 3:30, first events marshalled at 4:45 pm and will start at 5:00 pm. Estimated finish time 7:45 pm Sunday - gates open at 8:30 am, first event marshalled at 9:45 am and will start at 10:00 am. Estimated finish time 3:00 pm.... For those doing team events, a nomination form will be emailed out tonight to advise which athletes are doing what events in the teams competition. Copies of these forms will also be available on the day of competition. For combined teams, an announcement will be made over the PA approx 30 minutes prior to the start of the events for teams to meet and work out who is doing what events for the team.

05.01.2022 Well that’s a wrap....a wonderful 5 days of athletics. Parents of athletes will receive a google ink or similar to access all our photos and video’s as soon as they are downloaded. Just let us rest, get sorted for the Multis and they will be available soon. Here is a thank you video from all our athletes acknowledging the hours of work Matt Dixon, the board, coaches and hut parents have put in. Help your children rest and recover the next couple of days and celebrate the many wonderful experiences your child has had. There are not many camps out there that bring you altogether. That is over and out from us as we sleep for the next 2 days

02.01.2022 Congratulations to our U13 and U15 athletes from last season that were selected to represent Tasmania at the Australian Little Athletics Championships in April this year. Unfortunately due to COVID this event was cancelled. The second of our presentations was held in Hobart this morning.

02.01.2022 Sr.Helens Little Athletics club is the last club to officially start for the season, but what a great turnout and a fabulous come and try day today! Well done on the Martin clan and committee for getting the ground finally ready and upgraded! It looked fabulous St.Helens is open to visitors over the summer, just don’t forget to sign in, support their canteen and follow all Covid practices
