23.01.2022 Note to all asparagus growers. The gnarly large spine you need to keep, also has really tender and tasty off shoots up the stalks, as nice as the young spears out of the ground.

20.01.2022 Southern Tasmanian peeps. This should be a great afternoon, lots of local gourmet delights including some excellent less well known wineries.

20.01.2022 Well, we all know you've been waiting for this ... it's so riveting. Huon Valley Community December 2020 weather Stats December let us down for sunshine and temperature .. but November made up for it. Rainfall was close to long term average, but significantly above last 5 year average ... making up for Novermer's dry .. sort of. Maximum Temp 1 deg C down! .... But, (my) tomatoes are going gang busters. Happy End to 2020 ... and calling on some wonderful collective positive visualisation to bring about some wonderful 2021 outcomes

19.01.2022 Mid November morning thunderstorm gratefully received ... clearing now, and oh so sticky.

18.01.2022 By popular demand ...

18.01.2022 aren't we so blessed in th Huon Valley. Dec 23rd. Best Oysters https://www.facebook.com/379336402637573/posts/840244219880120/

18.01.2022 A very shaded Wasabi Compound built 16 months has proved to enable extraordinary growth and vitality

17.01.2022 OK, so I realise we're a quarter of the way through spring.... I've had some technical issues with non Clouds End weather data. I know you've all been waiting ..... Drum Roll ... and here is the Huon Valley Winter and August 2020, weather retrospectivity.

15.01.2022 The main, purpose built Wasabi compound, watering and mouth watering :-)

15.01.2022 For oyster lovers out there, do yourself a favour and try native tasmanian oysters, Angasi . Thanks to Isabel and Steve at Bruny Island Oysters tonight's entree is sorted... just heading out to pick some lemons and fresh Wasabi leaves

15.01.2022 Lots of young fresh Wasabi leaves and stem off to market. Try at Cygnet Red Velvet Lounge or buy from Cygnet Garden Larder

14.01.2022 Our young Wasabi plants are looking so spectacular at the moment, I feel the need to share some short videos. First up the nursery for our young'uns

13.01.2022 Ok. So they maybe last season's Huon Grannies ... but still crispy and tart az. Nothing better than sprinkling with foraged Tasmanian Pepper Berries, wattle seeds and lemon myrtle and dehydrating ... grooving to Everybody Wants to Rule the world, with this view. Love love LoVeLovE Huon Valley Community

11.01.2022 Wasabi Summer "Hibernation" ... as promised. Hunkering down for summer, and all the goodness going into a building a magnificent rhizome for grating into paste.

08.01.2022 Now, I'm all for free trade ... but I'm also an advocate of consumers making an informed choice. It dismayed me to see major grocery chains selling Chilean crab over Christmas, for a higher price than Australian Crayfish, which the market was awash with. In fact, local Crayfish wasn't stocked. NOW, as with most Jan to March Lemon availability, they're all USA grown. Surely with our latitudinal and climate expanse, why are there no Oz lemons available. Our Tassie trees are laden. Sorry, had to get that off my chest.

08.01.2022 The mother rhizome .... she's been most fruitful over the last 4 years .... check all her children out :-)

07.01.2022 Pinch and a Punch. 1st of November. A reminder to all people with Clouds End Wasabi seedlings. It's time to use that magic fertiliser brew ... sparingly. And a warning. "Heat Wave" forecast over the next few days. Ensure they are well watered and shaded from the 10am to 8pm sun

06.01.2022 Check out these beautiful and extra tasty young'uns :-)

05.01.2022 September weather stats are in. Warmer than long term average max and mins. Even warmer on the hill. Precipitation only 62% of long term average. Though, spot on for last 4 year averages, both on the hill and valley..... we are getting drier in what should be our wettest month. Quite a bit sunnier, though less solar radiation on the hill (we did get quite a bit of of through Sept)

05.01.2022 Are you still looking for picking work in the #huonvalley ? Here is a great opportunity with Reid Fruits who are looking for workers to start immediately. 02.01.2022 There's an overwhelming hum of bees around Clouds End on this 3rd day of spring... and lady bugs back so early! The featured flower is Pyrethrum, home brewed it's ok ... shop "natural" Pyrethrum kills ladybugs. Ladybugs are our friends. Each one devours thousands of aphids a day

01.01.2022 Well it's that time I know you all wait for with such anticipation ... Not only Huon Valley November weather stats, but also looking back at spring. November was VERY dry, and more than 2 degrees above maximum average (go Tomatoes! :-) As for Spring, it had slightly warmer average max and mins, and surprisingly, significantly drier than the long term average (Grove Station Stats). In the meantime, the Wasabi plants have well and truly gone into "hibernation" - those big beautiful lilly pad type leaves creating a canopy, whilst all the decaying gorgeousness goes into building the rhizomes magic "ITC". Stay tuned for a sneak peek in on them a little later today Enjoy
