12.01.2022 TFBCA 2020 STATE FIREFIGHTER CHAMPIONSHIPS - EVENT CANCELLED Following a meeting of the TFBCA's Executive Committee last Thursday evening, and in consultation with the TFS Executive Leadership Team, the difficult decision has been made to cancel the 2020 State Firefighter Championships, that were to be contested on the weekend of the 7th and 8th of November. Unfortunately, the COVID-19 pandemic continues to create such challenges and uncertainty that were the Championships to... go ahead as scheduled, could pose a serious and unacceptable risk to the health and safety of competitors, officials, spectators, and the wider Tasmanian community. It was in the interests of promoting community safety that the event was cancelled. Although disappointed at the outcome, the Executive Committee hopes that this break from competition will allow the Championships to return bigger and better than ever in 2021. On a positive note, the easing of COVID-19 restrictions in Tasmania now makes it possible for the TFBCA to hold its AGM and General Meeting. This will be held on Thursday 20th August 2020, via Video Conference, commencing at 1900h. Nominations for Office Bearers and Officials are now open, and will close on Friday 31st July 2020 at 1700h. Statements of Duties and Nomination forms are available from the Championships website: http://fire.tas.gov.au/Show?pageId=colAssociations The Executive Committee acknowledges that this will be a difficult decision to process, as many of you are passionate and loyal supporters of fire brigade competitions, and have been for quite some time. Those with questions or concerns are most welcome to contact the Executive Committee by inboxing this page, or by email at: [email protected] On behalf of the Executive Committee, thank you for your ongoing patience, support, and understanding during this difficult time. Laura Smith - Executive Officer, Tasmanian Fire Brigades Championships Association.
