08.01.2022 BREAKING: The Hobart City Council voted 10-1 tonight to ask the Premier what is the Tasmanian government plan to ensure that the current measures to prevent death and illness from #COVID19 in #Tasmania do not cause greater harm through the economic, social and health consequences of these current measures? The Alderman who moved the motion, GP Dr Peter Sexton, said that if we close our borders for years, and we don’t address the consequences of the impact of that until it’s too late, we’re going to have much worse health consequences from the treatment than the disease itself. 07.01.2022 Last week the Gupta Family Group (GFG) Alliance announced its plans to purchase the Temco manganese smelter in northern #Tasmania. This week Tasmanian Inquirer reports the company is seeking to negotiate a lower electricity price from Hydro Tasmania, even though its current power contract runs until 2024. Which begs the question: who carries the costs if Temco gets cheaper power?
