25.01.2022 We will never forget Gough.
23.01.2022 Unsurprisingly, Paul Keating gets it. He is the architect of superannuation after all This is a burden being placed on the young and vulnerable that they may n...ever recover from. ‘The main burden of income support is people ratting their own savings to the tune of where now 600,000 young people, broadly young people under 35, have no superannuation accounts at all now’. 22.01.2022 Scott Morrison’s attempt to deflect blame for the tragedy unfolding in aged care homes is a terrible failure of leadership. He needs to take responsibility for any failings and provide families and loved ones with answers to what has gone wrong.
21.01.2022 This is the moment the Minister for Aged Care turned his back on accountability and walked out of the Senate. Well, he can't keep dodging responsibility. More t...han 360 people have died in aged care homes run by the Morrison Government. Older Australians and the families who love them deserve better.
20.01.2022 759. That’s the number of students there are for every school social workers in Tasmania. It’s simply not fair to expect each social workers to look after 759 s...tudents. We need to do better. There are too many schools where students only get fortnightly access to a mental health worker, if that. If we can have chaplains in schools, then why shouldn’t we have more social workers and psychologists? A Labor Government will put trained mental health workers in every public school.
19.01.2022 I was reminded of this photo at an event last night. A quick snap taken while I sat with some Labor legends backstage at the 2016 campaign launch. How lucky we are to have benefited from the big vision and determination of people like Bob Hawke, Paul Keating and Julia Gillard.
18.01.2022 Scott Morrison doesn’t want you to remember that his Liberal Government promised a National Integrity Commission back in 2018.
16.01.2022 Under the cover of darkness the Liberals announced more cuts to operating hours at the Mersey Community Hospital’s emergency department. Health services in the ...North West were already at crisis point before COVID-19 but right now if the Mersey Hospital is your local hospital and you have a medical emergency in the middle of the night you’ll be taken to Burnie or Launceston. Labor is calling on the Government to restore the service like they promised. https://fixthehealthcrisis.com/mersey-hospital-24-7-emerge/
14.01.2022 It’s been a big night in politics. Congratulations to NZ Labour and Jacinta Ardern. Being re-elected in majority government. ACT Labor has also been re-elected. Congratulations. ACT share the Hare-Clark voting system with us. They also access electronic voting. ... Don’t forget branch meeting this Thursday! 5.30pm sharp- apologies to the Secretary.
14.01.2022 The Liberals are using the pandemic as an excuse to let bosses sack older workers to replace them with cheaper, subsidised workers. This is their vision for Australia.
14.01.2022 At our AGM on Thursday evening, we said thank you to our branch Secretary- Lyn. Lyn has kept us well prepared, on time and organised for the previous 9 years! Thanks to Lyn for your effort, support and hard work over the years! Lyn has passed the baton on and we know will be a good support to the incoming secretary also. Volunteers are the life blood of Labor and we appreciate theirs efforts immensely. Tasmanian Labor.
14.01.2022 This will bite hard in our community. Targeting a group of people who deserve so much better than this.
13.01.2022 Happy Birthday Paul! Thank you for modernising the Australian economy, while championing Indigenous Rights and so much more!
12.01.2022 Please sign and share!
11.01.2022 This is risky. Who recalls the issues with biosecurity and ensuring our farmers are safe? We have world leading quality produce, why would anyone want to risk it? And damage local jobs?
09.01.2022 Tasmanian children should be cared for in the state.
09.01.2022 The Liberals have been sitting on a secret report into donation law reform for almost a year. What are they hiding? Elections must be a battle of ideas, not a battle of bank accounts. That’s why Labor will clean up Tasmania’s political donations laws.
09.01.2022 Today we called on the Australian Senate to agree to display the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Flags alongside the Australian Flag in the Senate chamber.... This has been denied by the Morrison Government. Once again, the Morrison Government is choosing division over unity, and ignoring the 65,000 years of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander history in this country, as well as ignoring the fact that the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander flags are recognised as national flags. Doing so during #NAIDOC Week rubs further salt into the wound. Patrick Dodson Linda Burney Penny Wong - Senator for SA Anthony Albanese National NAIDOC #NAIDOC2020 #NAIDOC Australian Labor Party
05.01.2022 Happy Birthday Julia Gillard! Julia is still the first and only woman to hold the positions of deputy prime minister, prime minister and leader of a major pa...rty in Australia. Here Julia sits with World War Two veteran Sidney King at the ANZAC Day, Townsville. National Library of Australia / Townsville Council
05.01.2022 It’s not enough to thank aged care workers. We’ve also got to fix the system that is failing them and all those in their care. They deserve a government that listens. That acts. That has a plan. Labor has a plan. We stand with aged care workers because thank you isn’t enough.
05.01.2022 The Government's priorities are completely wrong. Stand against it. Sign our petition here: https://utm.io/uc0X3
04.01.2022 Congratulations, President Biden.
04.01.2022 Someone you know needs to be shown this.
03.01.2022 #LOCAL business in Tassie taking cut flowers to the whole country. The flowers from Flowerdale Flowers TAS Pty Ltd are spectacular! Labor Member for Braddon, S...hane Broad MP and I met with owner Rob Saddler last week to discuss how the business has grown. This family run enterprise has invested in huge glass houses that cover 2ha of their property and ensure they can deliver premium flowers all year round.
01.01.2022 It's official. Congratulations Bastian Seidel, Labor Candidate for Huon!
