21.01.2022 The Hobart Town Hall is turning 150 this year and one talented Tasmanian designer could win a $20,000 commission to create a piece to commemorate the anniversar...y. The Hobart Town Hall 150 Design Award opens Friday 1 July and closes 31 July 2016: www.hobartcity.com.au/designaward Ten shortlisted designs will receive $1500 to develop a concept for a three-dimensional object, and the winner $20,000, to create a work which will go on display in the Town Hall.

This new b...iennial award is open to Australian designers globally and designers residing in Australia. The award encourages innovation in furniture design and will foster new opportunities for furniture manufacturing in Australia. The winner of the award will receive: $20,000 cash Acquisition of the winning prototype by the Art Gallery of South Australia. A residency within the JamFactory Furniture Studio (including travel and up to four weeks accommodation) to develop a design through to commercial production. Distribution of the resulting product or product range through Stylecraft’s showrooms throughout Australia and Singapore. Professional photo shoot of the resulting product or product range. Royalties on sales of the resulting product or product range at an above-industry rate of 7.5% of wholesale. Accounting, legal and intellectual property advice From entries submitted online, six finalists will be chosen by a high profile national judging panel. Closing date 15 May 2017
