20.01.2022 As life slowly returns to our new normal we can start to refocus on some of our industry challenges. In food, one of those wicked problems is food waste, particularly on-farm food waste, so we’ve started to quantify the issue in fruit and veg in Tasmania. You can hear one of our ignition team, Ian Locke, talk to the ABC Hobart & ABC Northern Tasmania about the issue. You can also hear about another, new food collaboration, the Tasmanian Produce Collective. Don’t forget, there...’s still time to join us for our webinar discussing our findings on Wednesday, July 8. https://www.abc.net.au//tas-country/fresh-produce/12412216

13.01.2022 It is really quite extraordinary to see how the food industry is contributing towards the effort to support Tasmanians who are needing an extra hand during #COVID19.

11.01.2022 Tackling food waste is a big, wicked problem. We may only be able to eat the elephant one spoonful at a time but it turns out black soldier flies can eat an elephant every day! Congratulations to Goterra for the latest round of investment. Their solution combats food waste by combining robotics and fly larvae.... https://www.afr.com//maggot-waste-management-gets-tick-fro

10.01.2022 Our planet is drowning in waste and we believe that NOW is the time to stand up and do something about it. Consumers, producers, farmers and government all have a role in Rethinking Packaging and, like most wicked problems, we need to collaborate to achieve the best solutions and tackle this problem head on. With that in mind we would like to confirm that our Rethink Packaging event, scheduled for Tuesday 17 March in Hobart, is still going ahead.... For a number of reasons, we have rescheduled our evening community event to later in the year. There are still a few tickets left so if you need a packaging rethink we'd love you to join us. See our events for more details and to book. For any questions, you can contact us at [email protected]. We look forward to seeing you there. Cheers, the TFC Team.

The survey is open to folks 18+ and closes midnight Wednesday 13th May. Link here and many thanks for your help. https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/WV7W8RK

02.01.2022 The virtual Agfest Field Days, Tasmania is still happening. Why not visit this weekend? This #throwbackthursday from our friends @ABCHobart is great #buytasmanianfirst #buysomethingtasmania #weeatlocal

01.01.2022 We don’t judge people by their shape or size, it’s their heart that matters. What if we treated our fruit and veg the same way? Today on #worldenvironmentday you can make a difference by committing to buy the ugly veggies, knowing they’ll taste just as good if not better. This is just one on the ways that as consumers we can help reduce on farm food waste. What are you doing to reduce you food waste?... @FAO
