23.01.2022 #CatholicCulture Underground Catholics of China. Pray for the Church in China!

18.01.2022 My dear friends in Christ On this feast of St Therese of Lisieux who is one of the greatest carmelite saints, I will be clothing 2 more postulants with the carm...elite habbit at our carmelite monastery in Mathoura. Please keep the Nuns in your prayers as they continue to grow with vocations and be assured that they are praying for us. I am one proud Bishop to have a powerhouse of prayer in the diocese. +Columba

17.01.2022 The first Rosary. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners!

07.01.2022 The most unexpected thing that has occurred during COVID I've noticed, is an astronomical interest for those seeking the Extraordinary Form of Mass (TLM). I'm ...a member and admin of several large TLM Facebook groups, according to the admins of some, and even my own pages\groups that have grown their numbers at an unprecedented rate. Those of the previous generation of Catholics are asking questions, wanting to be involved, wanting to support. It's incredible to witness. Just in the Diocese of Austin alone during COVID, priests are coming forward to learn the TLM (even the new vocations director), 2 new TLM locations have popped up (Dripping Springs & Killeen), and the TLM at Saint Mary Cathedral continues to meet capacity at the (now) 2 Mass times on Sunday (due to COVID capacity to meet the demand). Even major Catholic & Pro-life influencers have recently begun attending the TLM, and are praising it publicly. Continued expansion is inevitable. I commend the priests who have made these efforts, and those who discern to seek it. I commend His Excellency, The Most Reverend Bishop Joe Vásquez in his efforts for continued growth of the Extraordinary Form in our Diocese, and as a Shepard to his flock. So, what's going on then? Is it because of certain COVID restrictions at some Ordinary Form parishes? Lack of places to receive our Lord Jesus Christ, Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity on the tongue while kneeling? Is it the Gregorian Chant? Is it reverence for the true presence in the Eucharist? Homilies that feed the laity spiritually and morally? Traditional Orders of Priests given faculties by the bishops (FSSP\ICKSP)? The entire liturgy? I can't say for certain, but what I can say is: All over the country, since Pope Benedict XVI penned his Motu Proprio 'Summorum Pontificum' in 2007 - we've seen a monumental single statistical percentage growth in the Catholic Church of the Roman Rite according to the Liturgy of the Extraordinary Form. Far outpacing (growth percentage wise) to majority of the Ordinary Form Parishes in the US. (https://www.washingtonexaminer.com//traditional-catholic-p) Josh, I'm interested in attending a TLM, have considered it, or heard about it, but I'm unsure if I can follow-along... Is everything in Latin? Do I need to know Latin? What are some resources for me to check out before I dive-in and attempt it? Good News for you is: Not everything is in Latin, and no you don't need to know it. The homily is in the vernacular, in this case (the U.S.) is English. Sometimes, Father will re-read the Gospel in the vernacular prior to his homily. Important to note here: The readings follow a 1 year cycle instead of a 3 year. Almost all TLM's will have a Latin\English Missal provided to you at no cost. If it's your first time, my recommendation (and those of many) is: Just sit back, pray, watch the priest, altar boys and the movements. Enjoy the celebration of the Blessed Sacrament, the contemplative prayer and beautiful music. Then after a few attendances, start reading ahead the Mass Propers (Readings: Introit, Collect, Epistle, Gradual, Gospel, Offertory, Secret, Communion and Post Communion). Lost in the Mass\Missal? Ask your neighbor in the pew, any of them would be over-joyed to aid you. You'll get the hang of it, and become a pro at it in no time. As far as resources go check out the links below: Mass Prospers for Sunday Mass: https://www.missalemeum.com/ Latin Mass Directory: https://www.latinmassdir.org/ Latin\English Missals showing everything, including where to sit, stand and kneel: http://www.extraordinaryform.org/handmissals.html Traditional Liturgical Calendar: http://www.fsspolgs.org/liturgical-aids/liturgical-calendar/ SUMMORUM PONTIFICUM: http://www.vatican.va//hf_ben-xvi_motu-proprio_20070707_su Local (Diocese of Austin Facebook Resources): St Joseph Latin Mass Society North Austin Latin Mass Community Saint Joseph Latin Mass Community of Killeen I hope this helps those sitting on the fringes of wanting to participate in the TLM.
