25.01.2022 Potting up seedlings has us hanging out for the summer produce!

22.01.2022 We have had a beautiful 2 days out here for our annual tomato seedling sale! If you haven’t been able to make it over the weekend, it’s okay! We are open weekdays and still have Tomato seedlings for sale.

22.01.2022 DO YOU SPRAY YOUR GARLIC??? This is one of the most asked questions we get regarding how we grow our garlic. ‘Spray free’ doesn’t necessarily mean what people think. ... Yes, we spray our garlic. No, we don’t use dangerous chemicals. Just because we use spraying as a method to apply some products doesn’t mean we are using bad products. We use spraying to apply things such as seaweed and fish. Fantastic natural products that feed the garlic. Make sure you know what you’re asking and that your question will give you the answer you’re looking for.

22.01.2022 Now for something a little different in the family farming history space. Have you been watching ABC's Further Back in Time for Dinner? Do you like the house? Well, here's some trivia. Annette's grandmother and her father built it. She was one of three girls. The property at Annangrove, north of Sydney, was a farm, consisting mainly of citrus and passionfruit orchards. (See photo of orange trees being fumigated with cyanide. Apparently lots of dogs died that way when they wen...t in under the covers to explore). The family was the biggest producer of passionfruit in NSW at the time. Nanna (Ivy Cusbert) was born in 1895. She was the "boy" in the family (and is the one dressed in overalls in the family photos). It's also her in the inside photo. She was 17 when the house was completed in 1912. It was her job to sledge those huge sandstone blocks behind a horse, from the quarry to the house site. Certainly a different life to the young teenage girls in the still-brilliant tv series. 09.01.2022 We're back today. Just bring your boots and boxes. What can we say? Yesterday wasn't quite what we were hoping for. We did say don't rush and we did spread our big sale across two weekends to avoid overcrowding. We had already done the planning to avoid the Covid rush. We really didn't need the help of a full day's cold, miserable, relentless rain. But there you go! We got it. We had a steady trickle of intrepid seedling hunters throughout the day. Thank you to all of you who... ventured out. The good news is there's still plenty left for those of you waiting for better weather. It's cloudy here but the rain has stopped. Please DRIVE SLOWLY as you enter and exit the carpark. There is a mud-free walkway to the seedling area and virtually everything is under cover and dry underfoot. There are four sheds to peruse at your leisure. We have card facilities available. Please sanitise and sign in as you arrive. See you from 10am onwards. See more
