10.01.2022 Not Tasmanian timbers, not even in Tasmania, but inspiring stuff... should have been posted yesterday for International Women's Day... http://www.sylvaspoon.com//10-women-of-woodworking-you-nee

10.01.2022 Finished and photographed on 21/12/2015, here is my latest jewellery box, in Tasmanian Myrtle and Tasmanian bird'e eye Huon Pine, commissioned by a private client... The lid and floor are matching slices off the same piece of Huon Pine, and the floors of the two inset trays are reflecting (book-matched) slices off the same piece as well... Notice how the grain pattern travels around the corners of the box in the salmon-coloured Myrtle...... The reinforcing splines in the corners are Huon Pine, and two pairs of rare-earth magnets act as a very effective lid clasp... The soft red sheep's leather upholstery is padded with foam, and is also used in the lid stay, and in inserted feet pads to land the box gently on a flat surface... The box measures 360 mm x 240 mm x 95 mm high, which is big enough to store A4 sized documents in envelopes, such as the deeds to the ranch... Enjoy!
