25.01.2022 Well its not long now before we hear from the State Growth department about the Community Infrastructure Fund, late April/early May we have been informed, so watch this space. You might have heard that theres been a little bit of news in the press about renewables lately, unless youve been under a rock. Looks like utility scale batteries will be installed in SA before long by Mr Musk or others. But closer to home, Bruny Island is up and running, check out the ABC report ...http://www.abc.net.au//tasmanias-bruny-island-test/8444964 The highlights of the C4CE Congress have now been released, take a look at what happened, http://c4ce.net.au/congress/congress-output/ Spread the word

24.01.2022 Another example of how the energy market might be changing. Well be working with our local utility provider to get the best solution. https://onestepoffthegrid.com.au/utilities-can-deal-threat/

21.01.2022 We have a representative at the C4CE Congress next Monday, http://c4ce.net.au/congress/ Hopefully this will be a great networking and learning opportunity for TPP. Let us know if there are any issues / opportunities you think we should be addressing

19.01.2022 We might not have a nuclear power plant to replace, but if New York can go distributed power generation, why can't the Tasman Peninsula??? http://reneweconomy.com.au/new-york-aims-replace-nuclear-/

17.01.2022 We are powering ahead with our project to explore innovative ways of getting a more reliable electricity supply for the Tasman Peninsula with more local renewable energy sources. TPP received a grant of $200,000 from the Tasmanian State Government. The grant has allowed us to employ a consultant to work on a Microgrid Assessment Study and will also fund an experimental installation of solar PV and batteries on the planned new Tasman Council owned residential units in Nubeen...a. Our first public meeting to report on progress and seek input from the community will be held at the CWA Hall, 1634 Main Rd Nubeena at 2pm on Sunday 21 October. Reliable electricity supply is an issue for all residents of the Peninsula. New technology for generating, storing and sharing electricity opens exciting new possibilities for the community to be actively engaged in providing its own energy, and to explore new business opportunities for local development and employment in the process. Our Microgrid Assessment Study is in four stages. In the first stage, which is fully funded, we will explore how solar PV and batteries can provide more reliable power and allow sharing between five residences. The Assessment Study will also map out future expansion possibilities. Stage two investigates a Nubeena Essential Services Microgrid which could power essential services in Nubeena in the case of outages and emergencies. Stage three, the Nubeena Community Microgrid, looks at strategies to supply power in the event of outages to the wider Nubeena community and provide value during other times. This could include options for a single Nubeena microgrid or a series of smaller microgrids. The fourth stage of the study will map out a Tasman Peninsula Community Energy Roadmap. The roadmap will set out the options for realising TPP's vision of sustainable renewable energy infrastructure across the Peninsula to deliver secure and affordable power and create local employment through community enterprises. We expect that the Study will be completed by the end of 2018 and will identify viable future projects for which we could seek either grant funding or community investment. There are lots of opportunities for you to have your say on the project. There is an online survey sponsored by Nubeena & Tasman branch of Bendigo Community Bank found at http://bit.ly/Tasman2018 . Come along to the Public Meeting on 21 October. A further meeting is planned for early December. You can email us with ideas or suggestions at any time at [email protected] or follow and post to this Facebook page (www.facebook.com/tasmanpeninsulapower/). You can also contact the project consultant Jack Gilding from Backroad Connections Pty Ltd at [email protected] or (0407) 486-651.

10.01.2022 The Liberals have announced funding for the Micro-grid pilot study ($50,000) and the PV's and batteries for the new Council residential units ($150,000). We might not have made the ABC news, due to an unplanned intervention from a local with other concerns, but we did make the REneweconomy. http://reneweconomy.com.au/tasmania-libs-propose-solar-bat/
