25.01.2022 TASMAP have just released a new, extended edition of the popular Cruising Southern Tasmania. Produced in conjunction with the Cruising Yacht Club of Tasmania as a cruising and anchorage guide to the beautiful waterway and anchorages of Southern Tasmania, this edition covers from Wineglass Bay to Bathurst Harbour and features detailed anchorage guides of the area. Information on anchorages, boat ramps, navigation aids, marine farms, jetties, hydrographic contours and soundings as well as hazards such as reefs, rocks, kelp, mudflats and shallow water is clearly shown. Shore based services of interest to cruising boats such as fuel, shops, toilets, post offices, phones and accommodation are also shown. 19.01.2022 Discover Tasmanian Aerial Imagery Land Tasmania has recently updated the Aerial Photo Viewer (APV) and indexes for aerial photo coverage of Tasmania. The APV shows the digital imagery coverage available for Tasmania including the latest imagery from 2019. The earlier photo coverages from 1945 onwards are gradually being added to the library. It operates in the Adobe Flash environment and therefore users will need that loaded.... https://dpipwe.tas.gov.au//accessing-and-obtaining-aerial- Check out the examples of 2019 10 cm imagery for Longford, Lyme Regis (NE Coast) and Saltwater River (Tasman Peninsula). The imagery is captured by contractors for Land Tasmanian in partnership with Local Government agencies as part of the Tasmanian Imagery Program.

18.01.2022 Bay of Fires: The slice of coastal heaven that is the Bay of Fires stretches over 50 kilometres from Binalong Bay in the south to Eddystone Point in the north. This area of Tasmania’s east coast has been named by Lonely Planet as the hottest travel destination in the world and is widely regarded as one of the most beautiful places in Australia. Norfolk Range: This map is covered by regional reserves, conservation and nature recreation areas, a strong indication of its wild an...d untamed natural beauty. The landscape and vegetation has been shaped by exposure to the ferocity of the weather freely sweeping across the Southern Ocean to run aground on the West Coast of Tasmania. Rebecca: This map features the heavily weathered coastline extending from Couta Rocks to the north and Sandy Cape Beach to the south. Featuring many remote sandy beaches, sand areas and rocky foreshore, this remote area is popular for a wide range of recreational activities including 4WD, motorbike and surfing. Avoca: This map features the historical mining towns of Avoca, Royal George and Rossarden, which serviced the zinc, lead, coal, tin and gold mining industry during the earlier part of the 20th century. Some mining activity still exists today. The area covers some prominent topographic features including South Esk and St Pauls rivers, St Pauls Dome and the foothills of Ben Lomond. 15.01.2022 The Tasmania Parks and Wildlife Service is committed to ensuring the safety of our visitors while we face the challenges of COVID-19. Following the Tasmanian Go...vernment’s measures on social distancing and public gatherings, all PWS campgrounds around the state will close at midnight Wednesday 25 March until further notice. All existing campers are required to vacate the campground as soon as practical. This includes popular sites at the Walls of Jerusalem National Park, Maria Island, South Coast Track, Frenchmans Cap and Overland Track within the Cradle Mountain Lake St-Clair National Park. As a result of these restrictions, all overnight walking activities will cease from midnight on 25 March. Sites will be monitored by PWS staff as we work to implement measures to reduce the spread of COVID-19.

Having been given its first major makeover since its introduction in 1980, the series has been brought into line wih contemporary mapping styles and techniques. 10.01.2022 Mount William National Park is a pristine paradise tucked away on the north east coast of Tasmania. The windswept coastline features rocky outcrops marked with bright orange lichen and seemingly endless stretches of powder white sand that squeaks beneath your feet all set against a backdrop of crystal clear turquoise water. The coastal heathlands of the park are home to the Xanthorrhoea plant; a skirt-like grass bush with a singular tall spike spire. A diverse array of terr...estrial, freshwater, estuarine, coastal and marine habitats, each contain important flora and fauna species and ecosystems. Mount William National Park is perfect for walking, fishing, swimming or kicking back at your beachside campsite doing nothing at all. The park is home to an abundance of Tasmanian marsupials and, as you explore, you may spot kangaroos, wombats, wallabies or echidnas. wukalina/Mount William sits at 216m above sea level. From the summit enjoy panoramic views of the coast and, on a clear day, all the way to the Furneaux Islands in Bass Strait. The Musselroe Bay Conservation Area is popular with birdwatchers while the camping area offers a number of sites. The main attraction in the area is the Eddystone Lighthouse which is located 13 km north of Ansons Bay. The lighthouse was built from pink granite in 1889 and stands 42 metres above sea level. The Nut map features a wide range of environments in the far northwest of Tasmania. The northern portion of the map includes long sandy beaches, numerous bays and inlets. The fishing town of Stanley, with The Nut as a scenic background, and the regional centre of Smithton are shown. Smithton is supported by aquaculture, along with a range of local land produce including crop, dairy and beef farming and timber production, while Stanley is a hotspot for tourists. Additionally, the map area comprises of cool temperate rainforests and numerous significant rivers including Arthur, Black and Duck rivers.
