25.01.2022 Make-a-wish are here today cooking up a storm of sausages and burgers in memorial of what would have been Brian's 90th birthday! Come and buy a sausage to support Brian's charity of choice! The piper to the Laird will be playing at the church in the Village of Lower crackpot at 1:30pm. You can spot him in the background of one of these photos of Laura and the Make-a-wish crew. Make-a-wish will be back on Sunday the 20th December and Saturday the 9th and 16th January. #makeawishfoundation #makeawish #tasmaziaandthevillageoflowercrackpot #tasmania #tasmaniaattractions #getoutside #sausagesizzle #outdoorfun #mazefun #sheffield #northwesttasmania

22.01.2022 QR codes are becoming incredibly popular & after you jump on the bandwagon you'll soon see why! Here at Tasmazia we have many QR codes placed around the grounds (especially the village and embassy buildings). If you like a good origin story, the if you will, using the QR codes is an excellent way to find out more about the buildings and what they represent. All you need to do is download a QR reader app of your smartphone. I recommend the Free Kaspersky QR reader and scanner. Then hover the scanner over the QR code, and voila. It will automatically open up to a recording or a readable story. This Post office QR code opens up to a voice recording of the late Brian Inder. Laird of Lower Crackpot.

22.01.2022 Reopening day is soooo close now!

18.01.2022 We have had some gorgeous days of late and we are in for another week of beautiful weather! I managed to get some photos and videos of our honey bees collecting pollen throughout our Hexagon maze which is Chinese Honeysuckle. If you look closely the flowers are creamy white and very small. Our flowers throughout the complex are blooming in the wonderful sunshine and the birds are singing. In the last two videos you can hear a Green Rosella. I spotted him several days ago but... he flew off before I could get a photo. Again today he hid in the tree but he certainly made a lot of noise. The sound reminds me of a dog toy! Some info about bees: - Honeybees generally attack only to defend their colony and sometimes if they are seriously disturbed. If you come across bees in the complex, remain calm and quietly move away. - Worker bees are female - They harvest nectar and pollen from flowering plants - Bees live in colonies, sometimes up to 50,000. The Queen runs the whole give! - Drones are the male bees. Their purpose is to mate with the Queen. They live in the hive in spring and summer but come winter they are kicked out! - Bees fly at a speed of 25kms per hour and beat their wings 200 times per second! #tasmania #honeybees #greenrosellas

06.01.2022 The Green Rosellas are back!! These birdie's have been hanging around the last few mornings but I've finally managed to get a photo and video. The Green Rosella or Tasmanian Rosella is native to Tasmania and the Bass strait Islands. The green Rosella is the largest member of the Rosella genus at approximately 37cm long. The underparts, neck and head are yellow with a red band above the beak and violet blue cheeks. The back is black and green. The tail is blue and green. They are found in a wide range of habitats but like some type of tree cover. They eat seeds, berries, nuts, fruit, flowers and sometimes insects. Have you seen them on your visit to Tasmazia? #greenrosella #birdsoftasmania #tasmaziaandthevillageoflowercrackpot #tasmania #tasmaniaattractions #getoutside #explore #naturelovers

01.01.2022 Look who came to visit! This little finch is a Silvereye. He flew into the Pancake Parlour & made friends with Bree instantly, landing on her foot and hand. Allowing her a show and tell for about 5 mins. Silvereyes are widespread throughout Australia. They favour wooded habitats, orchards, urban parks and gardens. They are a small bird growing up to 15cm in length. They are easily recognizable by the conspicuous ring of white feathers around the eye. They love the nectar of native trees & shrubs, as well as plump juicy insects and bugs!
