25.01.2022 Matt is right, now is not the time to divide Australians with fake culture wars!
25.01.2022 The US has 95, UK 15, Germany 6 and Finland 4. Australia has 0! Is it time that Australia seriously looks at Nuclear Energy?
24.01.2022 Happy Father’s Day! Nothing like a bit of humour to get your Sunday going!
24.01.2022 Today is Aged Care Employee Day 2020 Big shout out to all those aged care workers! In particular with the extra strain of Covid19. It takes a very special person to do what you do. THANK YOU!
23.01.2022 More than ever before we need to rally around our local small businesses. Many of these businesses are the life-blood of your local community Think Local. Vote National.
23.01.2022 You really cannot rely on the ALP to understand economics and the tax system
22.01.2022 This is another victory for the resilient men and women of the Australian cattle industry. They've fought long and hard for justice after the former Labor Government’s reckless 2011 decision to destroy livelihoods by gutting an entire industry overnight. We have always supported this decision by the courts and have opposed the idea of any appeal!
22.01.2022 Smarter not harder!
21.01.2022 MIDWAY POINT INTERSECTION UPGRADE The Liberal & National Federal Government in conjunction with the Tasmanian Government have taken the next step in the Midway Intersection solution. Tenders are now open, with construction expect to commence later this year. This is great news as at the last federal election, the National Party committed to this local project.... Anyone who lives in the Sorell Municipality and surrounding areas , would be well aware of the traffic congestion on the causeway and entering Midway Point. This project is also one of the key infrastructure projects that will help kick-start the Tasmanian economy. Think Local. Think National. See design: https://www.transport.tas.gov.au//midway_point_intersectio
21.01.2022 Our laws for mandatory minimum sentences for child sex offenders have passed the Parliament. These laws will help keep our children safe.
19.01.2022 What needs to be done about the lack of free speech in our Universities? Clearly those pro-CCP supporters feel like they can bully the university into censoring certain views. I think the university needs to make it very clear that it is absolutely not negotiable. The Australian director of Human Rights Watch says it is deeply worrying that the University of NSW pulled an article where she made comments critical of China’s human rights record in Hong Kong from its Twitter... channel. I think it is deeply worrying. Universities are the bastion of free speech and academic freedom, she told The Australian. This is not just something with UNSW. There’s been lots of concerns at Australian universities around academic freedom and particularly around Chinese government threats to that.
17.01.2022 Are you a small business or dairy farm in Tasmania struggling to make ends meet? This grant program could be a hand up to help you push down those expensive electricity bills. Applications are open until 17 Aug 2020 for dairy farms, and 26 Aug 2020 for small business. The Nationals in government deliver for small and local business. See in the comments below for a link to the program.
16.01.2022 Have you or someone you know experienced this? It has been reported that titles are taking over 6 months to be approved, delaying new homes and potentially costing jobs. We need to cut the red and green tape!
15.01.2022 Australian and Tasmanian jobs must be front and centre when the state government decides who will build our 2 new Spirit of Tasmania’s. Think Local. Vote National.
14.01.2022 So, you believe the Greens support renewables, right? Not like they once did, apparently. The Godfather of the Greens, Dr Robert James Brown (Bob) and his succe...ssor, Christine Milne, are moving to stop Tasmania becoming the renewable battery for the nation and rail against the electricity connector to the mainland. This will stop any of those cursed wind towers on their patch. They are now an eyesore but were once the saviour of the planet. We now have a major conundrum. They don’t believe in wind power, well not where they are anyhow, they don’t believe in coal power, gas power, nuclear power or hydroelectricity. You might say this narrows the field a little - unless candles, camel dung and cold showers are coming back. You think they believe in solar power? Well go try build a solar farm around Dr Brown’s hut in the hills and I bet the local council will be hearing from him pretty quickly. The energy from the solar farms would have to be stored in a pump hydro dam in any case and Dr Brown does not believe in dams. In fact, Dr Brown wants the Greens to pull down dams. Now a cavalcade of Green-leaning academics and others are railing against the construction of Snowy Hydro 2 (pump hydro), because of the damage to Kosciuszko National Park and pathogens being transferred, so where does all this sunny windy power get stored? The biggest non-hydro battery, in South Australia, has the capacity to power Tomago Aluminium Smelter for a total of eight minutes. Hardly a comforting alternative. Inner-city politicians will be apprehensively peering from their biodegradable Prada sunnies for protesters dressed as koalas, wind towers, lumps of coal, invertebrates from Kosciusko, Bass Strait electricity interconnectors, a dam wall, gas wells and inevitably a solar panel. Yes, they will bump down the illogical road to electricity lunacy as they appeal to government to make every Green wish come true and every harbour evening soiree a concordance of righteousness. If renewables are inevitable then why do we need to be bound to international treaties on renewable targets? Shouldn’t it just happen naturally? Power source has become an implausible absolutist religious argument. There are those who don’t want the use of coal in any form, so if burning one thousand tonnes of coal could replace 10 thousand acres of wind farms, they would not do it. You pose the hypothetical: what if you could do it with 100 tonnes of coal? What if you could replace it with 1kg of coal? Just the mention of coal is inadmissible from this time forth in human discourse. I had a German delegation visit a committee I chair on Industry Innovation and Science. They told me they are refurbishing their brown coal fired power stations. Pretty smart people the Germans. They build motor cars and heavy machinery and all that other smart stuff; stuff that we use to build before we lost our collective power source mind.

13.01.2022 In the current economic environment, we should not have a situation in which Tasmania's unemployment rate is predicted to reach 8.6% and we have Tasmanian fruit farmers concerned they won't get their fruit picked due to labour shortage!
13.01.2022 Today marks victory in the Pacific! Lest We Forget, those who sacrificed so much to deliver the freedoms we have in Australia today
13.01.2022 Leaving school or searching for a job? Our new skills package will boost access to training jobs across our communities!

12.01.2022 Today is National Forestry Planting Day which recognises Australia’s sustainable and renewable forest industries. Last year Australian timber products helped build more than 162,000 homes, and every year, enough tree seedlings are planted to cover an area equivalent to 136,000 football fields, and that figure is set to increase. The Chief Executive Officer of the Australian Forest Products Association (AFPA), Ross Hampton said each year approximately 70 million new trees ar...e planted during winter in southern Australia and summer in northern Australia. Our timber industry knows the best way to manage and maintain sustainable forestry management practices! Think Local. Vote National.

07.01.2022 Dr McKeown estimated there was a one-in-10 million chance of coronavirus entering Tasmania from outside declared hotspots. Is it time to get our economy on the path to recovery and open up to the safe states of SA, WA and NT?
03.01.2022 Surely the Derwent Valley Council could of spent $140k of tax-payers money more wisely?
02.01.2022 Tasmania will soon start lifting its border barriers to travellers from some places, but not others. SA, NT and WA VIC, NSW, ACT and QLD if you support these changes ... if you do not support these changes Think Local. Think National.
