23.01.2022 Tasracing provided sponsorship to the 2019/20 season’s Off the Track winners competing at Dressage Tasmania North. Thoroughbred OTT was taken out by Swynford ridden by Heather Cambridge. Standardbred winner was My Good Lookin’ Gal ridden by Jo Rhind; the pair were also recently awarded the Tasracing Standardbred Hi Point Award for 2019/20... Congratulations to the winners, all participants and event organisers. We are looking forward to working along side Northern Branch Dressage in the 2020/21 season.

23.01.2022 Off the Track recently provided sponsorship to the 2020 Revolutionary Horse of the Year Hosted by the Show Horse Council of Tasmania, the event was held on Sunday, 25th October at Faulkner Park, Invermay. There were a positive number of OTT entrants, with the winner being ‘March Fly’ (Melissa Sweeny) and runner up ‘Soviet Quest’ (Hana Brozek).... A representative from Show Horse Council of Tasmania highlighted that the Off the Track participants were a lovely representations of the Thoroughbred. Tasracing would like to congratulate all participants and organisers on a successful event!

22.01.2022 Mel is looking for an OTT - or two! Mel is not looking for a specific breed or sex as long as they have a good temperament. The ability to be ridden would be beneficial but a companion horse would be happily homed too. It would be great if the horse(s) were social as there are several other horses on the property.... 19.01.2022 Penny is looking for a home: Penny is a recently retired 7YO Thoroughbred that raced as Portrait Painting. She is a Bay Mare and stands at 15.3 hands. She is good to shoe and float, though she has only been floated by truck previously. Penny has been exposed to vehicle traffic and other animals, including dogs, both of which she is comfortable around. ... She lunges well on both sides, does not buck or rear, though trainer recommends an experienced rider would suit Penny best. 13.01.2022 Tasracing provided sponsorship to the highest place Off the Track competitors in each class of the Meander Valley Show Jumping Festival, held on Saturday, 7th November at Westbury There were a positive number of Off the Track participants showcasing the excellent potential that retired racehorses have in the ring. Off the Track Coordinator, Lana Castle, attended the event as a spectator and was impressed with the talent of all participants.... She noted The event was very well organised and filled with strong competitors. 13.01.2022 The Minister for Racing, Jane Howlett - Liberal Member for Prosser, today announced a new equine welfare initiative. The "Subsidised Lessons Program" is an initiative to support retired racehorses as they transition from the racing industry into the community. Approved applicants are eligible for ten (10) individual lessons of up to 60 minutes in duration with a Tasracing Approved Coach. ... The program will enable new owners of retired racehorses to receive tailored support across a range of areas including horse care and husbandry, nutrition, behaviour, groundwork and ridden components. The program operates through a voucher system, with approved applicants issued vouchers to cover the cost of lessons. The Subsidised Lessons Program will replace the Tasracing-hosted Off The Track (OTT) Clinics with the program launching on 1 November 2020. The OTT Subsidised Lessons Program will operate as a pilot in the first instance and will be reviewed in six months with the intent of up scaling the program. 12.01.2022 SUBSIDISED LESSONS 2021 Tasracing's Off the Track are continuing to review Subsidised Lesson Applications for Thoroughbred and Standardbred horses transitioning from Racing in to the community in 2021. This pilot program has received a lot of interest and is due to be reviewed in May 2021. All applicants must be Tasmanian bred horses or have raced in Tasmania prior to retiring. Horses bred in Tasmania are not required to have raced, only to have been bred with the intention ...of entering the Racing Industry. Tasmanian horses who have been retired within the last 12 months with an owner/rider 17 years old, or older, are automatically accepted. However, Tasracing will review any applications for owners/riders under 17 years old and any horses that have been retired longer than 12 months on a case by case basis. Thoroughbred 10 years old (turning 11) Chestnut gelding... 16.3 hands Located in Flowery Gully (near Beaconsfield) Aventador's carer has provided the following description: Needs an experienced, capable and confident handler/rider. NO BEGINNERS or NERVOUS Riders. Experience with retraining OTT an advantage. Retired from racing a little over 12 months ago and hasn't done anything since. Has had a tendon injury in the past, so for this reason, Aventador is not suited to a highly competitive home but would suit someone with a solid horsemanship, ground control background, who wants to help a horse find his brave and potentially, down the track, do some low level dressage, clinics, adult riding etc or even just liberty style work and/or companion. Can be tricky to catch and bit full of himself but certainly not nasty. Paddocks well with others, prefers a friend nearby or sharing the same paddock. Good to trim feet, worm, rug. Has not been ridden or floated in over 12 months. Arrived by truck. Ideally looking for a person to give him all the attention he needs to build trust and confidence, from which I believe he would give you his all. She is after a quite horse who enjoys the company of people and other horses. Being broken to saddle and having the possibility of being ridden is an advantage but not a requirement. 08.01.2022 Tasracing provided sponsorship to the Off the Track winners competing at the State Eventing Championships on Sunday October 25 at Quercus Rural Youth Park, Carrick. The winner of the State Eventing Championships was Off the Track Thoroughbred Regal Venture who retired from the racing industry in 2016 after racing for 3 years as Geegee Hot Novel. Regal Venture, named Jasmine in her new home, has been with owner Georgia Van Der Drift since retiring for the race track. The mare... begun competitive eventing during 2017 and has also represented Tasmania interstate. Jasmine placed 4th in the National Interschools Championships 2019 and it is hoped after taking the Champion title this month at the State Eventing Championships with Covid-19 boarder restrictions easing she will return to the mainland to compete further. In addition to eventing Jasmine has also entered in Show Jumping competitions which have been successful including a win in the Young Riders Class at State Titles jumping up to 1.20 metres. Jasmine is another strong example of how versatile, determined and talented Off the Track horses can be in their retired life.

02.01.2022 The Meander Valley Show Jumping Festival 2020 is scheduled for Saturday, 7 November. Hosted by the Westbury Show Equestrians, the festival will be held at The Westbury Showgrounds from 8:30am. Tasracing is sponsoring the OTT classes, which will feature retired Thoroughbred, West on Broadway. Bay gelding West on Broadway is now a 7YO, that competed 24 times through its career between November 2016 and February 2019 when it retired. The racing name, turned competition name, has... carried with it success from the race track to the arena. However at home with new owners the gelding is affectionally known as Gunna. Gunna, ridden by Hayley Atkins, not only participates in show jumping but enjoys beach or bush trail rides and hunting in the winter months. 02.01.2022 Hi Point Award Update: Tasracing has received an enquiry about the Hi Point Award for Financial Year 2019/20 and 2020/21. If you would like to be considered for the Hi Point Award in 2019/20, please submit your 2019/20 Hi Point Card to [email protected] by 31st October 2020.... Tasracing did not announce a Hi Point competition for 2020/2021, therefore there will be no Hi Point Award this season. However, this is an initiative Tasracing may consider in the future.
