10.01.2022 The Mercury Newspaper article below. --------------------------------------------------------- Police looking into latest Redline rock toss incident.... Latest rock-throwing incident raises fears bus drivers and passengers will be hurt if senseless violence continues. Helen Kempton, October 30, 2020 2:36pm A TASMANIAN bus company fears a spate of rock-throwing incidents will result in injury with the latest involving a large missile which came through a window and endangered the driver and high school students on board. Tasmania’s Own Redline said the latest incident on Thursday night involved a bus carrying a number of school students at the time. A rock was thrown at the side of a bus in Dodges Ferry about 7pm. It smashed through the window and landed close to passengers. Redline Southern Operations Manager Andrew Grzinic said the rock was thrown on Carlton Beach Rd, Dodges Ferry near the Raprinner St intersection. Unfortunately this is not an isolated incident with a similar attack in recent weeks in Cambridge and Warrane, Mr Grzinic said. We were lucky this time but significant injuries could result in prosecution of those responsible. The incident has been reported to police and dashcam footage has been provided to help identify those responsible. Tasmania Police are seeking public information. Thankfully no one was injured but there was a very real potential for commuters and motorists to have been seriously injured, police said. These types of incidents cause significant distress to the community and we urge anyone with information to come forward. Anyone with information in relation to the rock throwing, or suspicious activity in the vicinity of Tarana Street or Arnott Street is asked to contact police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers anonymously on 1800 333 000.

07.01.2022 A big shout out to our awesome Redline staff. Public transport is considered an essential service by the state government. Medical staff need to get to hospitals, carers need to get to those they care for and the children of front-line workers need to get to school. For this reason, our drivers, administration staff, mechanics, cleaners and operations staff and are all out there doing an amazing job in difficult circumstances. All to keep the wheels turning and we think they ...deserve a massive THANK YOU. We encourage people to follow government advice and stay at home unless travel is essential. 05.01.2022 . . This means:... All travel on Redline services will continue to be free until 5 July 2020. As you would be aware, under the Tasmanian Governments plan for easing COVID-19 restrictions, all primary school and college students returned to school on Monday 25 May and high school students are expected to return to school on Tuesday 9 June. As on-site learning resumes for all students, there is the potential for passenger numbers to increase within a short time. While public transport is not subject to the COVID-19 restrictions on gatherings, it is very important that everyone take steps as far as is reasonably practical to minimise the spread of COVID-19. If undertaking short trips, consider walking or cycling. When queuing at the bus stop, keep a minimum of one metre from other passengers. Keep physical distancing in mind and choose a seat away from others where possible. Members of the same household can sit together. Minimise contact with surfaces inside the bus as much as possible. Practice good hand hygiene and where possible, wash or sanitise hands before boarding the bus. Cover coughs or sneezes. Do not occupy the first row of seats near the driver. Always comply with any requests from driver. Please note that bus drivers are not responsible for enforcing the above physical distancing measures. Importantly, no unaccompanied child will be denied boarding a bus on the grounds of physical distancing requirements. Passengers also have responsibilities to ensure that travel on public transport is safe: If going to work, school, the shops or vital appointments by bus we need to travel safe together. Physical distancing is still important so give others plenty of space where you can. Avoid peak periods, consider walking or cycling instead. To help protect you, cleaning of buses has increased. Most of all, if you are unwell please dont catch the bus. Please be assured that all necessary steps are being taken to ensure the safety of students and drivers when travelling on buses and to manage risk based on the best and latest evidence and medical advice. Parents/carers have been advised that if they are uncomfortable with the arrangements that are in place, they may wish to consider alternative means of transport for their child(ren). Students should not use public transport if they are supposed to be in isolation or are unwell. New information on school bus arrangements and the fare amnesty can be found on the website at: https://www.coronavirus.tas.gov.au/familie/public-transport Thank you for your ongoing patience and support as we navigate this together.
