21.01.2022 Welcome to Challenging the Challenge Areas All this month we are bringing you program ideas based around the 4 challenge areas! Stargazing/Gardening: Outd...oors isn’t just physical exercise, but it is also connecting with and appreciating nature. Why not get your Unit together, either virtually or in person and learn how to maintain a garden, or stargaze and learn how to navigate by the stars? There are lots of things you can try. See more

12.01.2022 COVID has had a serious impact upon blood and plasma supplies nationally, and right now there is a particular need for plasma. So we’ve teamed up with the Australian Red Cross Lifeblood to run a Rover Plasma Challenge from the 1st of August to the 31st of October. We are asking Rovers to help support the Australian Red Cross by rolling up their sleeves and donating plasma (and blood). Also for those of you out there who aren’t able to donate, you can get involved too. You ca...n help support your fellow Rovers, through arranging transport, spreading awareness of the initiative or even signing up as an organ donor! All you have to do to sign up is visit the Lifeblood website (https://www.lifeblood.com.au/), create an account and sign up to your Unit. There will be badges for donors and supporters, and various prizes awarded at Unit, Region and Branch levels. So come on Rovers, let’s get cracking.
11.01.2022 To the millions of Scout volunteers around the world - happy International Volunteer Day! This year’s International Volunteer Day comes at an exceptional moment.... We’re living through an extraordinary wave of challenges, uncertainty and change, but through it all volunteers like you have met these obstacles with incredible strength and resilience. We often say that a Scout is always resourceful and across the globe we’ve witnessed your leadership, creativity and remarkable efforts which have ensured that millions of young people continue to have incredible opportunities to experience the fun, friendship and unity of Scouting in these testing times. As we look ahead to 2021, #TogetherWeCan continue to grow our Scouting family, and give even more young people the opportunities they need and deserve to get involved in Scouting’s life-changing educational experience! Together, with you, we can do it. Message from World Organization of the Scout Movement - WOSM Craig Turpie (Chairperson) & Ahmad Alhendawi (Secretary General)

03.01.2022 This week we’re showcasing another Rover who is participating in Dry July. Meet Brad! Why are you doing Dry July? I wanted to do Dry July primarily to take a br...eak from drinking. Many of my friends know I enjoy a drink or 5, and looking back I hadn't taken a break from drinking since I turned 18! It's also a great opportunity to support those in need through rasing funds for Cancer research. Cancer has affected my family as it has many others, and if sacrificing drinking to raise funds is what I need to do then that's not a bad trade off! What are you doing instead of drinking during Dry July? With lockdowns ending I have still been going to parties and gatherings, but now I'm the deso! I'm also getting outdoors more, camping and guess what!? There is so many more hours in a weekend when you aren't nursing a hangover What are some lifestyle changes you hope to get out of Dry July? I'm using this opportunity to improve my physical fitness. As part of my BP I am improving my fitness for my Physical badge. This was hampered while in lockdown, but this is a great opportunity to catch up on those missed gym sessions! Im also finding I feel alot healthier and less sluggish! Why is the support offered by the Dry July foundation important to you? Dry July's support to me has been excellent, with encouragement to keep me going and stay on track multiple times a week. I have a target of $500, and I hope I can smash this so funds can be spent to support those living with cancer, as I have seen the detrimental affects it has on a person's physical state and mental health. You can donate to Brad here! http://www.dryjuly.com/users/brad-jones-2
