11.01.2022 It teaches discipline, patience, perseverance, motor sensory skills, coordination, the benefit of working over a period of time for gratification, comradery. It opens one up to explore diverse situations, backgrounds, ideas, ideologies. It provides an avenue for one to explore their passions, feelings, and talents. It provides those who come to see theatre with a chance to be transported to another place and time, a chance to reconnect with memories and emotions. There is never a performance that a person leaves not being touched in some way. It perpetuates humanity.

08.01.2022 At a meeting last night the Committee of Launceston Competition decided to cancel the Speech and Drama, Music and Highland Dancing sections of this year’s competitions to be held in May and June. As the Theatrical dance sections are scheduled to be held later in the year it was voted that they be re-assessed on the 27th April. If there is no change in the Coronavirus situation, or it worsens, on or before that date these sections will also be cancelled. If there are any res...trictions on the health and well being of participants or the numbers allowed into the theatre these sections will not go ahead. The Committee certainly do not wish to put anyone at risk of contracting the virus. If that is the eventual outcome, all entrants will be offered a refund of their entry fees. So sad, but totally necessary . INVERMAY CREATIVE UNIT will not be operating this year. Take care of eachother xxx From Launceston Competitions: It is quite sad for the Committee to have to make these decisions as it is only the second time the competitions have had to be cancelled. The first was in 1935 due to the financial situation at the time.
