21.01.2022 Thank you, dumpling_18, for your wonderful 5-star review on TripAdvisor! Our tours truly are for locals just as much as visitors! Join us for the best in local ‘international travel’ for both food and culture! Our ‘Taste of Migration’ tour is also known as ‘Taste of Greece, Lebanon, and Vietnam’ (Bankstown) https://bit.ly/taste_bankstown2020 FANTASTIC - Taste of Migration - BANKSTOWN I have been doing my grocery shopping in Bankstown for over 25 years (and before that, a...s a child accompanying my parents) and thought I knew the place like the back of my hand. Well, as Aristotle said "the more you know, the more you know you don't know"! I was amazed at all the discoveries uncovered by our wonderful guide Sahar. She even opened my eyes to shops, monuments and statues that I have walked past literally hundreds of times in the past. My friend and I were lucky enough to be the only participants on the Tour and with Sahar as our Private Guide, we chatted and laughed and had a fantastic day together. The food stops were yummy and worthwhile; and worth returning to. Sahar's passion for food, culture, the Bankstown community and the mission of Taste Food Tours is so infectious and inspiring. I'm booking another Taste Tour asap! Find out more: https://bit.ly/taste_bankstown2020

21.01.2022 When you can’t travel take your stomach on a holiday! - by Happyoztrippers, October 2020 (TripAdvisor) Our family went on a private Taste tour with Anamika to Harris Park to learn about Indian food. We had a great time! Anamika was very knowledgeable and engaging. We’re introduced to many new and surprising foods ( we were sooo full by the end) like Pani Puri and Raj Kachori. ... So much we didn’t even know existed let alone love. Actually the kids didn’t even know where Harris Park was until the tour and truthfully in parts, it doesn’t feel like Sydney. In these times when you can’t travel at least take your stomach on a holiday! You’ll be doing good for the community too as Taste tours uses profits in training programs for young people, asylum seekers and refugees. - - - - - Awww, thank you, Happyoztrippers! We’re so thrilled you had a wonderful travel experience, especially for your tummies! Our next public ‘Taste of India’ (Harris Park) tour is on 14 November, but private tours are available too! http://bit.ly/taste_indiaau

21.01.2022 The connection between food and culture is so important. What foods did your ancestors love? https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=2alYW5xz26E... Around the world, Indigenous food cultures vanish because of industrialized agriculture and a shifting, Western-influenced concept of the ideal diet. Food researcher Aparna Pallavi explores why once-essential culinary traditions disappear from people's lives and memories almost without notice -- and serves up a subtle solution to revitalize our connection to the foods we eat.

21.01.2022 You may not be able to get on a plane right now, but you and your tastebuds can still travel to faraway places without leaving Sydney! Take an unforgettable trip to Afghanistan, Syria, and Persia via Sydney’s Merrylands! https://bit.ly/merrylands_au Bring your friends and family along on a small food and culture tour, following all the NSW Government Covid-Safe guidelines. Thank you SeeTaste Do for your amazing photos!

20.01.2022 I thought I knew Chinatown - TripAdvisor Review by Monica (October 2020) I have been to Chinatown many times and for as long as I can remember but I had never experienced it like I did last night. Patrick is very knowledgable and provided history, background and anecdotes of the sites, architecture and restaurants making the night very enjoyable. The restaurants and the dishes were carefully selected to ensure we experienced the soul of their countries of origin. The amoun...t of food served, the variety and the pace of the tour were perfect. Finishing off with the sculptural gelatos was truly the icing on the cake. I would recommend the tour if you want to have an unpretentious, adventurous Covid-safe night out in town. Our ‘Taste of Chinatown’ tour is not just for Sydney visitors, it’s perfect for locals too! See Sydney through new eyes and travel around Asia with your tastebuds! 19.01.2022 Thank you so much for the 5-star review on Trip Advisor, tezelliott! Best of Bankstown! Fantastic Food and Cultural tour After reading an article in the newspaper, our family of 4 (me, my husband and 2 adult daughters) were keen to do the Taste of Migration, Bankstown tour.... We had a private tour for us 4 which was the same price as a group tour and we were able to nominate a day of our choice. We were met by our lovely guide Ezzy, who came to Australia a couple of years ago from Malaysia, but originally from Libya. She settled in Liverpool and has got to know all about the surrounding suburbs including Bankstown which this tour centred on. We had never been to Banktown before and we discovered many hidden gems. Bankstown, like many other Sydney suburbs is a melting pot of cultures and this tour concentrated on the cuisines of Vietnam, Lebanon and Greece. I have always believed that you get a much better picture of a suburb by doing a tour with a local, visiting different food venues and restaurants and going to specialist grocers and delis. We also learnt a bit of history of the area and visited various sculptures and monuments to the cultures that create Bankstown. Now to the food! I don't want to go into minute detail about each thing we sampled because it would be nice for others to have a surprise. But please make sure you don't eat too much beforehand! We sampled a fusion Vietnamese brunch, ate Lebanese pizza, had some fantastic Vietnamese rice paper rolls at a very popular family run restaurant. At the Greek deli we were to sample a shared deli platter but due to Covid, no sharing allowed, so we got a very generous take-home package each, which we had for dinner. We also visited a Middle Eastern deli full of aromatic spices, a Vietnamese supermarket and lastly sampled some lovely sweet things from a Lebanese bakery. Ezzy also presented us with a tote bag and spices from the deli, a lovely take home reminder of our day. Summing up I can't recommend this tour highly enough, already planning to do another Taste Tour asap. Ezzy said that numbers are down on the tours due to Covid, and they would love numbers to increase. They are very aware of Covid restrictions, sanitiser is always at hand as well as places to wash your hands. Please do this tour, it is a fantastic way to get to know another part of Sydney, and to eat well too! - Tezelliott (September 2020) Sound good? Your family can take this tour together in October or November too! WHEN: Thu 8 October / Sat 24 October / Sat 7 November / Sat 21 November (10.00am-1.00pm) TICKETS: Adult: $65 / Concession: $60 / Youth: $50 / Kids: $40 http://bit.ly/taste_family2020

16.01.2022 Happy Mid-Autumn Festival! 1st October 2020 is the 15th day of the 8th Lunar month. It is called the Mid-Autumn Festival or Mooncake Festival. It is a public holiday in China and some other Asian countries too. This special festival has been celebrated since the Tang Dynasty (618-907 AD) and it is still so important today. The Moon God is worshipped in the evening with a large table of fruits and a variety of mooncakes. Usually there will also be traditional lighting pape...r lanterns. There are so many historical stories surrounding the Mid-Autumn festival and celebrations. The festival has become an essential event in Mooncake history, celebrated by Chinese and Vietnamese people all over the world, including those in Australia. Other Asian cultures celebrate it too. Mooncakes and paper lanterns are seen in Sydney’s Chinatown, Haymarket, and Sydney’s Cabramatta every year, even during these difficult times. The history, the beliefs, the stories, and the knowledge are passed down from generation to generation. Join our ‘Taste of Chinatown’ food and culture tour and you can find out more about the Mooncake Uprising history, traditional culture and authentic food from China and other delicious parts of Asia. 11.01.2022 Thank you for the 5-star review on TripAdvisor, cop-u-later! We are so glad you love our new ‘Taste of Aussie Produce’ (The Horsley Drive) tour! Fun day feasting on top class Aussie produce What a great idea for this Covid-crazy time, a self drive tour along The Horsley Drive accompanied by our wonderful guides, Latife & Ezzy, in their own vehicle. The route was easy to follow and revealed hidden gems that we had all probably driven past before without ever thinking to turn... in to explore. Started with yummy arancini at Vero, followed by excellent coffee at Goliath. Many other stops throughout the day, including a few tasty sips of liqueur at Cello, all finished off perfectly with gelato at Michelangelo. Was great to get the background on the families that have grown their business in this area and the way they support each other. Taste of Aussie produce is a winner in my book. Read the review on TripAdvisor here: https://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g255060-d494113 We have been hearing from so many locals who have lived and worked in Western Sydney for over a decade, that they’ve never known about these places! 01.01.2022 Thank you so much for your lovely reivew, Mookait! We’re so chuffed you enjoyed the ‘Taste of Vietnam’ tour of Cabramatta! Wonderful Tour of Cabramatta - I am a huge fan of Taste Tours and thoroughly enjoyed a sunny Sunday with Patrick enjoying the sights, sounds and tastes of Cabramatta. Starting with the famous Vietnamese pork roll, our tour enjoyed a wonderful beef pho, sugar cane juice, Thai pastries and so much more. We made our own rice paper rolls and tried a duria...n smoothie. What an adventure. What I love most about Taste Tours (apart from the food) is that I get to enjoy multi-cultural suburbs with people who know and understand the area. I would never have found these places alone. Thanks again Taste Tours. Can’t wait for my next one. - - You can take a trip to Vietnam via Cabramatta too!
