25.01.2022 & We have locked in an event with Heartwood & TIB, Mr H and I are going to have a crack at doing a hybrid eve...nt, with people able to choose an 'at-home' or 'in-person' option at the RACV Hotel. Thursday August 20th is the date. Please choose your preferred method of participation below. Kind regards, Todd and the DC Crew ------------ Heartwood & Tasmanian Independent Bottlers will team up again with Destination Cellars for an evening of great drams and erudite banter from Mr H in person in the beautiful surrounds of RACV Hobart Hotel on Thursday August 20th at 7pm. This is NOT an online event! Tasmanian whisky lovers - you are invited to join us in person to celebrate some fabulous local whisky from one of the most awarded independent bottlers in the world. Here's a line up to make you salivate: 1. You will get the first look at the latest release of the # .% Hot off the bottling line, Mr H has produced this "imminently slurpable" unique blend of three singe malts produced at Australian distilleries. This vatting was constructed from three separate casks that all previously held sherry. Bottled at 49.9% 2. # .% consisting of two ex-Sherry casks from 'a Renowned NSW Distillery', & a splash of peated ex-Sherry cask from local Adams Distillery. 3. FL0011 Sherry Cask Single Malt Whisky 49.2% - a beautiful Sherried whisky - a huge hit when it was released last year, another whisky from the archives! 4. ‘’ @#$%&* , ’! - Junior H's first crack under the Heartwood brand, Louis Duckett (Tim Duckett’s son) & it's a beauty! It consists of the first Tokay cask filled by Lark + some younger sherried whisky and the tiniest bit (‘0.003%) of youthful peated whisky. Bottled at 59.65%abv 5. ?? " " you will get to be the first people to taste a new Heartwood release from Mr H. His generosity knows no bounds. TIB is run by local alchemist Tim Duckett (aka Mr H), producer of the famed high- octane Heartwood brand, who has created TIB to offer a more gentle style of whisky with less 'mongrel' than the Heartwood releases. Heartwood has won countless awards on some of the most prestigious whisky stages over the past decade and TIB is now following suit. He sources spirit from Tasmania, mainland Australia, and New Zealand based on its texture and flavour profile. It is then matched to a specific barrel type. Currently they have selected 15 barrel types for maturation of the spirit including: Sherry, Port, Bourbon, Muscat, Botrytis, Virgin oak, Re-educated 2nd fill, Rum, Bourbon Rum, Sherry Rum, Tokay, PX, Rye, Whisky beer. Also they will have oats, rye, & apple spirit. Exciting times. 09.01.2022 HELLYERS ROAD GENERAL MANAGER TO MOVE ON Hellyers Road Distillery general manager, Mark Littler has announced his intention to leave the business at year’s end.... Mr Littler fills the dual role of master distiller and up until its sale to TasFoods Limited last year, also combined these duties with the role of general manager of Betta Milk. Hellyers Road Distillery has emerged as one of Tasmania’s most progressive businesses in recent years having won numerous national and international awards for product excellence as well as recognition as Tasmania’s Exporter of the Year in 2017. Its whiskies are widely available throughout Australia and Europe as well as China, Japan, Taiwan and the United States. Established by the shareholders of Betta Milk in the mid-nineties, the business has grown from a start up to become the highest-selling Australian crafted single malt whisky producer in the world employing 15 full time equivalents. Much of this growth has occurred under the stewardship of Mark Littler. In announcing his intention to finish up with the business towards the end of this year, Mr Littler said he was looking forward to a slightly more pedestrian lifestyle when he leaves. I have thoroughly enjoyed my 17 years with Hellyers Road Distillery, the challenges of growing a relatively new business, creating single malt whisky products, growing the distribution footprint and working with a wonderful group of people including colleagues, a succession of boards, shareholders, customers and suppliers. I will miss all of these things but know the time is coming when a fresh set of eyes is needed to steer the future direction and capitalise on the very solid foundations that have been laid. Much of the business success we have enjoyed comes back to the culture that has been established within by a team of people who have shared the strategic vision to create a world-class whisky business. We have made significant inroads towards achieving this vision and the future for Hellyers Road Distillery is very bright he said. Company chairman, Dean Shephard said his board were naturally saddened by Mr Littler’s pending departure after such a successful period under his leadership but he remains very excited about the future of the brand which has capitalised on Tasmania’s world-wide reputation for producing high quality food and beverage. Mark will leave big shoes to fill but thanks to the excellent work he and his team have done over the years, the transition to a new general manager should be relatively seamless. Despite the fact Mark will remain in charge of the business until the end of the year, I would like to take this opportunity on behalf of the board and company shareholders to thank him for the outstanding job he has done to not only strategically grow the business but to develop a suite of single malt whisky products that are capturing the attention of a very competitive global market, Mr Shephard concluded. The Board of Hellyers Road Distillery has commenced a process to undertake the recruitment of a new general manager to succeed Mark Littler at the end of this year.
