17.01.2022 We are delighted to announce a new scholarship opportunity for 2021! The Justine Summers-Edgley Scholarship will be an annual scholarship open to dancers who are not currently company members. With so many families dealing with financial stress due to the Covid 19 pandemic, we hope this scholarship will enable more talented young dancers from across Tasmania the opportunity to join the company and learn alongside other dedicated peers. There a two streams -... Junior (8 to 12) Senior (13 to 19) (Age at 31/12/21) The scholarship will be awarded on potential and merit and as such the process will include an audition. The scholarships begin in Term 4 2020. Please email [email protected] for further information and an application form.

07.01.2022 Eva is one of many dancers with the TYCBC who participated in the Australian Ballet Company’s Telstra Online Mentoring program over the last few months. Such a wonderful opportunity ! Eva, who trains with @danceacademy.34 in Launceston, first joined us in 2016, when she was just 13. Eva is now in year 11, has taken on a teaching role at her dance school, and is beginning to plan her next steps in pursuit of her dream of working in performing arts. It is truly wonderful to be a part of the journey for these dedicated young people

04.01.2022 5 years ago a dream was realised. It was a nervous and excited morning as we welcomed over 100 young dancers to the studio for the first ever TYCBC audition. Our patron ,Justine Summers conducted the audition as she hand picked the first intake of company members for our official launch of TYCBC .... An amazing group of young ballet dancers from across our state. Since then it has gone from strength to strength. Ou mission is always about creating strong pathways for ballet dancers who wish to move on to full time ballet schools. We feel we have created this and more. A beautiful community of young talent who love ballet. Some of our company members have go on to study at The Australian Ballet School ,WAAPA,VCA,Queensland Ballet,Tanya Pearson,Conservatoire of Ballet ,Jane Moore ,VCAS to name a few. We love this first official photo of Emily Masters and Health Kolka with Justine at our first ever audition. Both of these talented students are now at The Australian Ballet School Emily Level 8 and Heath Level 7. Both training for professional life as ballet dancers in one of Australia’s most esteemed faculties. Over the last 5 years we have had so many wonderful experiences. Performance at the Theatre Royal,Peacock Theatre,Glen Albyn and Grand Chancellor . Our dancers have performed for Victorian State Ballet,Russian Ballet,Moves Festival ,Salamanca arts festival and at the RAD Royal Gala in Melbourne. We have trained with Sydney Dance Co,Australian Ballet Company,Bangarra Dance Theatre,ADT ,Daniel Gaudiello,Lucinda Dunn,Lana Jones ,Daniel Jabar and more. Each Sunday we meet and train. We thank our dedicated dancers over the last 5 years who have given up their Sunday’s to take class. We especially extend our heartfelt gratitude to our Launceston members who make the trip each week to be in Hobart. We have always been about the love of classical ballet. We want to extend opportunities and work alongside each dancer more closely so that they have a real chance at taking their craft to the next level. This project was never born from ego or money ..it was born from pure love of dance,opportunity and excellence. I take this opportunity to thank the amazing Shayne Davies for the 5 years you have dedicated to this program. The program is everything because of your nurturing care of your dancers. I know each dancer who has gone on to full-time schools thank you for your contribution to their training. Happy 5 years TYCBC. We are excited for the future for our dancers in Hobart.
