22.01.2022 In place of a traditional camp this year, the Year 9s are spending Week 10 doing activities designed to challenge them in a variety of ways. Monday, Day 1, students spent the day Go-Karting at Kartmania and jumping and climbing at Latitude. Such a fun day, and such positive feedback from the staff at both venues about the respect and positive nature of our cohort. Heres just a snippet of all the fun they had. Thank you to Mrs Allen for putting this very fun footage together!

21.01.2022 It was a delight to be able to hold our annual event Bless the Animals today, welcoming families and their furry friends along! We were treated to meeting pet dogs, cats, lizards, rabbits, chickens and stick insects. We also had a special guest, Andrew Hunt who spoke to us about his work as a vet with the Equestrian Olympic team. Thank you to everyone who brought their pet along to be blessed, such a wonderful community event to enjoy together.

19.01.2022 A number of Year 8 Physical Education classes were lucky enough to be coached by a world aerobics champion in Aero Gymnastics. Students learned and practiced the following: holding shapes, flexibility, fitness, strength, improving core stability, trusting their bodies, partner work, and perseverance. All students had a lot of fun!

18.01.2022 The Year 6s challenged themselves to raise money for charity by doing a Kindness Chalk 4 Charity along The Ridge path. Students wrote kindness quotes in chalk on the path to inspire our Junior School community to be kind. Are you inspired?

18.01.2022 Last week, the One-derfuls in Year 1 visited Cleland Wildlife Park to inquire into the features of bush landscapes and our responsibility to care for them. As you can see, they had a brilliant time. Thank you to Cleland for hosting us!

16.01.2022 Day 2 of the Year 9 Activities Week took place at The Forktree Project - a rejuvenation and sustainability project based on the Fleurieu Peninsula. Students moved rubble, cleared weeds, leveled hillsides and built gable walls to help Liz and Tim (of Forktree Project) with their work. Part of the day was also sampling some Bush Tucker, with Aunty Daphne and Billie Cornthwaite. The Year 9s got stuck into the work, and the wind and rain didnt slow them down! Liz and Tim were so grateful for the work our students did - even getting through more than expected! What a rich experience for our Year 9s!

15.01.2022 Yesterday the Year 9s went into the Adelaide CBD area, for a multiculturalism day. We visited the Adelaide Mosque and spoke to Imam Helmi. He spoke to us about Islam and shared some Islamic prayers with us. We also visited the Adelaide Hebrew Congregation and spoke to Warren about Judaism while seated in the synagogue. Students ate lunch in Rundle Mall between locations. A very eye opening day and a big thank you to Warren and Imam Helmi for welcoming us into their sacred spaces.

15.01.2022 At lunch time today Youth Worker Ellie organised a variety of activities to both raise awareness and continue the discussion around health and wellbeing. 11.01.2022 "Years 9 and 10 students studying Japanese had the opportunity to explore first-hand the culture of Japan. We visited the Japanese Himeji Gardens (where students learnt about the zen garden and compiled a range of Haiku poems), Japanese stores, the Samurai exhibition at the SA Art Gallery, and experienced a traditional Japanese meal. It was a great day where students could further make deep connections with their own learning so far about the Japanese language, culture and ultimately its people. Thank you to Lee sensei and Ward sensei for leading this excursion." Mr Jeffrey Wong, R-12 Languages Learning Leader

07.01.2022 As part of the Outdoor Education program, students worked with Friends of Onkaparinga and National Parks Senior Ranger, Steve Johnson. Students were exposed to different strategies in weed management and control as well as techniques to help eradicate the introduced olive bushes using a 'drill and fill technique'. As part of the day students walked down to the Onkaparinga River (referred to as the 'Womens River' by the traditional Kaurna Aboriginal people) with day packs in preparation for their upcoming Year 10 Outdoor Education Bushwalk experience. This was a time for managing their weight of the packs, calculating the time for the declination and inclination in elevation gained/lost as well as testing out appropriate footwear.

06.01.2022 Congratulations to our participants competing in Wednesday's inaugural Southern Colleges Cup held at Cardijn. Tatachilla fielded an extremely young side for the netball made up of majority Year 9s who had already taken part in a 20 km walk that day. The girls really stepped up to match some older, taller and stronger bodies. They lost their first game to Woodcroft, but should be very proud of securing a win against Cardijn by one goal in the final minutes of the game. Our O...pen Soccer Boys faced two tough but reasonably close games losing against Cardijn 2-0 and against Woodcroft 3-1. The boys played some fantastic soccer and kept their heads up throughout the matches. Lewis Mitchell was a standout performer and received the Umpires 'Fair Play Award' for the player best representing the spirit of the game. It was great to see some of the Year 12 AFL boys jump in to represent Tatachilla in their final afternoon of sport for the College. Thank you to coaches Jenna Fowler and Darren Vile for giving up their afternoon and to all of the students who participated in such a positive and respectful way.

06.01.2022 Maison and Leiella represented Tatachilla over the weekend at the Interschool Equestrian Competition. We congratulate Maison on being declared the South Australian State Primary Show Horse Champion and Leiella on becoming the Intermediate Disciple Champion and Reserve Champion. The girls were excellent ambassadors for the College.

05.01.2022 On Thursday morning our Year 9 Advanced Athlete Development students led the SAPSASA District Athletics team practice for our Tatachilla team. The selected athletes from Year 4-7 were able to run through their events and take part in a friendly competition in the lead up to SAPSASA District Day which will be hosted here at Tatachilla on Friday and Sunday of Week 1 next term. It was great to see the Year 9s offer their support, encouragement and tips for improvements to the young athletes. We look forward to watching the students compete next term. 05.01.2022 Today the Year 6 students held the Year 6 Business Fair. This is the result of their Economics unit of study which involves creating a business, researching and then developing their product and marketing it. 05.01.2022 Today our Year 7s are out on their Water Catchment Excursion. The students are visiting Mount Bold Reservoir, Noarlunga Wetlands, Southport Beach and Clarendon. Students are water testing and searching for invertebrates.

05.01.2022 Yesterday, day 3, the Year 9 cohort took part in Walk my Way a fundraiser for Australian Lutheran World Service. Students and staff walked between 12 and 20 kms through the stunning Kuitpo Forest, with the support of the Year 11 Vetamorphus students and Celia Fielke from ALWS. They wore their blue fundraising shirts, and immersed themselves in just a taste of what the hard journey is like for refugees. For short periods of time they carried each other, ran for cover, walk...ed without shoes, and heard stories of real refugee experiences. The cohort was grateful that they could come together after their walk with a BBQ lunch, cooked by Pastor Jon and Mrs Hoff-Zweck and as a group were so proud, some even saying it was the best day yet. The Year 9 fundraising efforts have currently helped about 200 refugee children to receive food and education for a year. If you would like to contribute to our total, you can do so at the link here: https://tatachilla.walkmyway.org.au/pages/search (select a home class group, individual student, or the staff team to support.)

04.01.2022 It was a beautiful morning for the Year 10s as we started our morning with prayer. Pastor Jon came to explain to us how powerful prayers are and how sometimes a normal conversation can lead us closer to God. Interim Principal, Mr Mifsud, engaged us with a wider approach of knowing ourselves and knowing who we really are and encouraged us to be proud of who we really are. What a way to end the term with lessons, prayers, thoughts and sunshine! Mrs Ashoo Rajput, Year 10 Coordinator

04.01.2022 Year 10 and 11 students celebrated the final week of term with a delicious brekky. Thank you to the team of teachers and students who helped run what was a very enjoyable morning!

03.01.2022 Today at our R-12 Challenge 4 Charity Chapel, Jonathan Krause from ALWS spoke about the charity's work in Somalia, encouraging our students in the lead up to C4C this Friday. We also heard about the inspirational experiences of three of our Old Scholars who previously visited Cambodia. Thank you to Emily Dunbar, Jacinta Trebilcock and Alyssa Harding (Class of 2019) for coming back to Tatachilla to share this with us. We encourage students to bring a gold coin donation for Casual Day on Friday, as well as some spending money for the various stalls, so that we can raise essential funds for these charities. Flyer attached for more information. #SeekFreshHorizons #PursuingExcellence #25Years #ServiceLearning

03.01.2022 Challenge 4 Charity was a day of laughter, excitement and generosity as our students spent lunchtime listening to tunes and raising funds for the Australian Lutheran World Service and Mission International to support our brothers and sisters in Cambodia. An incredible effort by all students and staff involved! #ServiceLearning #TransformsOurselves #TransformsTheWorld

02.01.2022 Congratulations to Nathan Crick who is now the SA U15 State Cyclo-Cross Champion. Nathans race was over a very technical course covering sand, grass, gravel and mulch at Gepps Cross. He was the favourite and had some tough competition but rode strong on the front for the entire race to take the win. Cyclo-Cross is a form of bicycle racing. Races typically take place in the autumn and winter, and consist of many... laps of a short course featuring pavement, wooded trails, grass, steep hills and obstacles requiring the rider to quickly dismount, carry the bike while navigating the obstruction and remount. Well done Nathan for this huge achievement!
