25.01.2022 A huge hug and a big THANK YOU to these beautiful little girls for putting together a little fundraiser for us here in the park from all the way down in Victoria! Melissa Hogan Weve received your generous donation and will put it to good use when the time comes. <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 A thank you also goes to the other kind-hearted souls who have also donated their deposits towards a rebuild, you dont even realise how much such a small gesture means to us! <3 <3 <3 <3 <3
25.01.2022 Weve recently had a number of people anxiously wanting to know when they can start making bookings (especially for Christmas), so I thought Id just clarify our current situation. Its already been a whopping 75 days since the Tathra Fires devastated our park, leaving us with the HUGE task of rebuilding. Whilst most of the progress on the park has been behind the scenes - passing fire damage and safety assessments and inspections, sending out emails and making phone calls, c...hasing up insurance, organising subcontractors etc. We are very slowly but surely making progress within the park itself. And hope to start demolition within the next week or so! However theres still hundreds of things that need to be done before were even close to reopening, and as such have no clear indication of how long this will take us. As much as we would love to be open by Christmas there is no guarantees. And suggest customers look to find accommodation elsewhere at such time. As always we appreciate your patience and on-going support through this very difficult and stressful time.
25.01.2022 The beach we all know and love, just got even better!!! We are truly blessed to live in such a beautiful little town; with water so pristine, it is perfect for migrating and swimming in ;)
25.01.2022 Our apologies for keeping you all in suspense, there was an issue with our Facebook post scheduling. However the answer to our recent post, was a picture of the remaining metal wheel axles of wheelie bins. We were very surprised how quickly some were able to guess this, so Congratulations to you!
24.01.2022 1 year ago today, and we're still fighting the fire
24.01.2022 It's that time again where we're starting to receive a number of phone calls and emails asking for the latest updates. As we have mentioned on multiple occasions - when there are updates we will post them. And unfortunately as of right now we still have no new updates We're still dealing with a number of issues outside our control. Rest assured, we are doing everything we possibly can to be back up and running as soon as possible. For those that do not follow the #Tathrastr...ong Facebook group you would have missed our recent post combating rumours that we won't reopen. Fortunately, that's all they are- rumours. We will be reopening! The problem is- we just don't know when. "Will you be reopen for Xmas?" - No definitive answer at such time. Just keep an eye on our page for when we do! And as usual thank you for your continued patience and understanding at this very difficult and frustrating time!
23.01.2022 Wishing everyone a safe and Happy Easter!
22.01.2022 Everyone please stay safe, and follow directions given by emergency personnel! We urge you to Follow Us here on Facebook, and to turn on post notifications, so we can keep you as best updated on the situation as possible.
22.01.2022 Can anyone guess what these once were? *HINT* you use them everyday! Answer to come Monday morning at 10pm. So start guessing
22.01.2022 This weekend we flew up to Armidale and visited Uniplan Group to have a look at some potential cabin designs. We also stopped by Armidale Tourist Park and had a look in some of their customised Uniplan cabins. Now we need to have some serious discussions and make some decisions on the different cabins we would like to bring to the park, what colour schemes we think will suit, and what interiors/ features would look best and suit our coastal climate etc.
21.01.2022 Dear motor village family, Wed like to wish you all a Happy Easter- wherever in the world you may be. We know you would all love to be here in the park with us, and we honestly thought by now you would be. But unfortunately we just keep hitting road blocks, which in turn continues to set our road to recovery back. Rest assured we are working tirelessly to reopen our gates as soon as possible, and know you will all be there with us when we do.... There is however, no way for us to predict at this stage when this may be. We want you to know though that we are working on it! Every single day, we are working to reopen the park for you. We havent forgot you! The second we have a clear idea of when we will be back up and running, you will be the first to know! We dont like being vague, but there just isnt a simple answer for us to give you all right now. So, in the meantime, have a wonderful and safe holiday. Enjoy this lovely weather with your loved ones. And please continue to send us your well wishes, and letters of love and support. We hope to see you all soon! Love, The Kobold Family
19.01.2022 As you can imagine weve been overwhelmed with questions from reporters, and current and future customers alike, wanting to get the latest information. So Ill try to cover everything in one fell swoop. Initially on Monday some residents of Tathra were allowed back into their homes, allowing us to enter the park and begin assessing the damage. However, yesterday we have been re-evacuated as the area still poses a threat to our safety. As a result, our park will be closed unti...l further notice, with no clear timeframe of when we will be reopening to the public. We were able to establish that around 50% of the park has been lost; this includes our front office, as well as some of our holiday cabins, weekender cabins and our campgrounds. And have made initial attempts to get in contact with all on-site van owners. Guests with future bookings- With no clear indication if/when we will be reopening, we suggest you work to find alternate accommodation arrangements. However, you can expect a phone call in the next few days/weeks providing you with more detailed information on the situation. Weve had several people requesting we post photos of the damage online, but have decided it is in our best interest to not share any such images. And agree that van owners would be better off finding out first hand rather than discovering their losses via a post on Facebook as these images can be quite distressing. We hope that you can understand and respect this decision. In the same way weve decided to limit contact with any media presence/reporters. And we ask that we are given some privacy and allowed time to grieve/come to terms with our loss. As previously stated the park has been evacuated and we ask that no guests attempt to enter the park until you have received contact from park managers allowing you to do so. This is for your safety. We appreciate how difficult this may be for some, but you must understand that this is just as hard for us as it is for you. In terms of clean-up and rebuilding, weve been humbled by the number of people offering their help, however at this stage were a long way off this, as there are several other matters that need to be addressed first. Nevertheless, we will keep you all in mind when we are ready to do so. Our manager is doing his best to answer everyones queries, and to get in contact with van owners. If youre yet to hear from him, I suggest you give him a call on our office number (02)6494 1577 and hopefully hell be able to give you more definitive answers.
18.01.2022 Latest update: We are still in negotiations with electrical engineers and the insurance companies. We have also prepared the first DA for Council, which has been unfortunately knocked back- due to new compliance with bush fire codes (RFS) and the plans are back with the hydraulic engineers and await RFS and council re-approval, this has been a major setback. We appreciate the continued support, and are going to every length to have the park back up and running as soon as possible.
17.01.2022 Tathra at the moment is not in immediate danger of fire, however all are precautions are being taken should the town need to evacuate to the beach again this year. Emergency evacuation points in Tathra have been set up at the Tathra Surf Lifesaving Club and the Tathra Country club, as well as at the Bega Showgrounds and Club Sapphire in Merimbula. To everyone in or near fire zones across Australia today please stay safe and always follow local Fire Services advice.... Hoping for a happy New year for all - let it bring us lots of rain!!
17.01.2022 For those wanting to see a birds eye view of the damage done to Tathra and Reedy Swamp, have a watch of this video.
17.01.2022 The front office completely gone
16.01.2022 As you all know, we were severely affected by the fires that ravaged Tathra a few weeks ago. I was able to spend 5 minutes yesterday to assess the damage myself. Whilst most of my time was spent grieving over the loss of my family home (attached to the back of the reception area), I did manage to take a few photos of the damage done to the park itself.
16.01.2022 As if Tathra hasnt had it bad enough this year! On Saturday night, a group of vandals went on a destructive rampage, damaging a number of businesses across town. We were unfortunately among those affected; sustaining significant damage to numerous on site vans. We have been in contact with the owners of these vans and are currently assisting police in their investigation. We are deeply disappointed by this act of vandalism and sympathize with all those that have been aff...ected, especially being so close to Christmas! Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact police. We would like to remind the public not to report crime via NSW Police social media pages but to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
16.01.2022 There are a number of people asking for updates. If you follow our Facebook page you will have all the latest updates. And if you havent heard from us in a while; then there isnt any new updates. :) So, at this stage there hasnt been much more progress, and its as frustrating for us, as it is for you. That being said, we are currently waiting on an engineers report on the underground electrical cables, and whether or not any have been damaged, how bad it is, how long it will take to repair, etc. The park is over 20 acres, and theres a LOT of electrical cables that will need to be assessed and possibly repaired before we can even think about moving on to the next task. As always, we thank you for your support, and we look forward to seeing you all when we reopen!

12.01.2022 A huge shout out to @batemansbayfencing for their hard work over the last few weeks helping us with our rebuild. Thank you for our awesome 248m worth of colourbond fencing!
12.01.2022 Behind the scenes, the ball is still rolling, just very slowly. There is plenty of organising and paperwork to be done before anything can start happening. Luckily for us we will be able to start our end of the clean-up by next week! However, there is still some time before those with vans on site will be able to come and clean up, but we will be sure to keep you informed as soon as possible. ... As always, thank you all for your words of love and support!
11.01.2022 ****PARK UPDATE**** WE ARE STILL CLOSED At such time were waiting on numerous safety inspections before we will be able to initially reopen; with restricted access to guests with vans on site. This is beyond our control, and until such time under NO CIRCUMSTANCES will anyone be allowed to enter the park. ... We have passed the recent asbestos analysis and are now awaiting tree removal over 160 large trees must be chopped down We are also in the process of removing, and properly disposing of several other hazards before entry will be permitted. This is not a simple process. It will take time! However, we thank you for your patience and continued support. We will keep you updated! If you have any further questions contact us on (02)6494 1577, or send me a message here on Facebook.
11.01.2022 Dear valued weekenders (those with vans on site), Please keep an eye out for your a letter in the post / email over the next week for the latest update.

09.01.2022 Wed like to thank you all for the messages of support on the actions of those sad human beings that vandalized Tathra. We would however like to put this out of mind and think instead of all the wonderful patrons and staff that we have been able to accommodate, and work with over so many years. We wish you all a Merry Christmas and a wonderful new year. Lots of Love from Annette and Tom, Anne and all the family. We look forward to seeing you all in 2019!!
09.01.2022 There was a horrible feeling in the pits of our stomachs today. Fortunately the fireys were all over it in a matter of hours to put the fire out.
08.01.2022 For all you footy fans out there, its great to see Adam coming home for a visit. Making the town very proud!
08.01.2022 To all concerned guests, and those with vans on site please note that Tathra is still closed off to the public and will continue to be for some time, as a result we still dont know how badly we have been affected. We will endeavour to get in contact with weekenders as soon as we can, and appreciate your patience at such time. Please note: We ask that no guests attempt to enter the park, until you have received contact from park managers allowing you to do so. To keep up to date please Follow Us here on Facebook, and turn on post notifications.

06.01.2022 After our recent post looking back on an old memory of the petrol bowsers, we noticed there were a number of people with some fond memories of the caravan park and Tathra. So I thought maybe I should ask you all directly; what are some of your fondest memories of your time here in Tathra?
06.01.2022 Some hopeful news, we cant thank the community enough for their kind words and offers of support, and also to the firefighters doing their best to save our little town. We urge you to Follow Us here on Facebook, and to turn on post notifications, so we can keep you as best updated on the situation as possible.
06.01.2022 Whilst it will be a long while before we open our boom gates again, we encourage you to support our beloved community!

04.01.2022 There are a number of fires in the Bega Valley again. Smoke from the out of control fire in Bemboka can be seen here in Tathra (photo provided by Trevor Mace of Tathra).
03.01.2022 Tathra has been re-opened for some residents. We have a manager on site now, going through the park and assessing the damage that has been done and is doing his best to get in contact with everyone. The phone have been diverted so you can call our office on (02) 6494 1577, but please be aware he has received over 11,000 phone calls in the last few hours alone. So it may be a struggle to get through right away, and you may be better off waiting to get the phone call. Please ...keep in mind that we will be calling those that have been affected first. Wed like to thank you all again for your kind words and support, and will continue to keep you updated.
03.01.2022 Who else remembers the old petrol bowsers?
03.01.2022 The park has received significant damage and will be closed until further notice.
03.01.2022 The beautiful town we live in never ceases to amaze! Photo by: Carlo Olegario.
02.01.2022 This has been one of the most difficult posts to write.... For the last 20+ years we have spent every Christmas working in the park, its been a family tradition. So it is with great sadness that we finally announce - we will not be open in time for the holiday season. We had hoped to be open before Christmas but have been delayed due to issues with the insurance companies. We sincerely apologize for this inconvenience, as we know camping in the park is also a family traditi...on for many of you. There is still a lot of work to be done, and Im sure we will be faced with more setbacks- so a reopen date is still quite unclear. From all of us here at the park, we would like to wish you all a very very Merry Christmas spent with loved ones. Whether its still here in Tathra, or on the other side of the world. Wherever you may be, travel safe, enjoy the holidays, and see you all in the New Year!
