15.01.2022 BEGA RIVER TO OPEN TODAY Bega River will be opened today (Wednesday 15 July). Heavy rainfalls over the last two days have meant the trigger height of 1.36m has... been reached. The length of time estuaries remain open is dependent on the volume of water flowing from the catchment, tides and the influence of wave activity at the entrance. Bega River was last opened in February and closed again in late May as a result of multiple large swells depositing sand in the entrance channel (as shown in image). Please take notice of the warning signs in place to alert the public of the deep channel, strong currents and the potential of sand collapses in the area.
