23.01.2022 #NSWFIRES // For the entire month of January the Far South Coast was in a constant state of uncertainty and fear of the threat of fires. On New Years Eve, the... sun didnt rise and thousands retreated to our surf clubs where lifesavers stood up with skills, compassion and support for their communities. No one asked them to do it but they were there, and our iconic red and yellow uniforms became a lifesaving beacon through the dark, thick smoke. What our lifesavers did is remarkable and as a result, the community now has a much deeper understanding of our capabilities on and off the beach. This series reveals some of the stories of strength and heartache of our lifesavers and the wider community. 06.01.2022 Our hearts are with Mark, Lia, Alara and their family as messages of condolence flood in acknowledging the life, joy and generosity of Tathra Surf Lifesaving Club member Lisa Freedman. Lisa was a long time member, loving, loud and generous. Professional and enthusiastic Lisa gave selflessly to her community. She was a core member of Wharf to Waves over the years and a lasting influence as an inspirational educator. We will miss you Lisa, Rest In Peace.

05.01.2022 Hello Tathra Patrol Members, Attached is the Xmas 2020 patrol voluntary roster sheet that will soon (today or tomorrow be hanging up in the patrol room at the surf club. This patrol has (as long as can remember) been a non-rostered patrol, a purely voluntary day where members have come down with food and family, put up the flags and provided a save aquatic swimming area for our visiting holiday makers. ... The day has been divided into 3 (over-lapping) shifts to allow a smooth transition and ensure each shift is covered by members. I myself won’t be around this Xmas day patrol. Justin and I will seek 3 patrol captains to lead each shift. If you’re willing and available please add your name to the preferred shift with your qualifications (IRB Driver ARTC or BM) on the list in the patrol room or email [email protected] to have your name added if you can’t make down the club between now and Xmas day. Please note, if you notice a big tendency for members to a certain shift please ensure we have an even spread of members across all shifts. BRONZE & SRC 2020 Season course info- Just to let you know that Sharon George (Training officer at Tathra Surf Club) is going to organise a Bronze course and SRC course, with modifications for COVID. This will have some online aspects and practical aspects, and will require some time at the Bega Pool. With this in mind, she needs to know names and details of which course you need t...o do asap. Currently, she is planning to do the pool component at 11am at Bega Pool, on Sunday 8th November (Sunday next weekend)! This might need to be spaced out if larger numbers. 03.01.2022 The Far South Coast Branch is pleased to congratulate Sophie Bolton and Jesse Coppin of Moruya Surf Life Saving Club as our Branch Junior Life Savers Of the Yea...r. Congratulations also to Lochie Ellard of Tathra Surf Life Saving Club and Erin Domeny of Broulee Surfers Surf Lifesaving Club who were awarded Highly Commended. The Judging panel wish to congratulate all club nominees on their outstanding applications and interviews this week with Branch president Tony Rettke, Director of Member Services Andrew Edmunds and Member Development Coordinator Frank Davey. The panel all commented on how fantastic our up and coming lifesavers are.

01.01.2022 In response to the recognised risk posed by the Coronavirus (COVID19) Surf Life Saving Australia has been working with SLSNSW and our FSC Branch to prepare and protect our members and their loved ones for what will be very unusual circumstances in our Communities. Together we face this virus with preparation, prevention and a focus on greater community well-being. To that end all Tathra Surf Club activities including Nippers, FSC Combined Senior/Junior Carnival and Presentati...on Awards Evening have been postponed and cancelled until further notice. At this stage our patrols, being much smaller groups are proceeding as planned. More details will follow regarding any updates to this situation if required. Our Venue Coordinator and team will be in touch with regard any hiring. Tathra Executive Committee will be reviewing the processes and procedures we will need to apply over coming months I have attached a link for further information with regular updates available via the SLSNSW site.
