25.01.2022 The most common place in the home where fires start is the kitchen. Many kitchen fires are caused by cooking that has been left unattended. Others are caused by electrical faults and flammable items like paper towels and curtains that are too close to sources of heat like the stove or toaster. If the cooking area is not kept clean a fire that starts on the stove can very quickly spread to built-up grease and fat around the stove and range hood, with the fire travelling up into the roof and to the rest of the house.

24.01.2022 Happy Father's Day to all the Dads. Especially the CFA Dads. Have a great day everybody

23.01.2022 7 February 2009 46.4C maximum temperature 173 lives lost 400+ fires 414 injured... 2,029 homes destroyed 7,567 people displaced 78 communities directly impacted 358 career firefighting personnel deployed 19,000+ CFA/FFMV members involved 450,000+ hectares burnt It was Black Saturday. Today we remember those that lost their lives, their homes, their properties, their loved ones, and their animals, and gratefully thank all those who worked tirelessly to bring an end to the devastation on that day, and in the immensely difficult days that followed. The people, communities and landscapes of Victoria were forever changed that day. We stand with those who with great hope and courage are still grieving and recovering, and acknowledge those who continue to work with affected individuals and communities. Together, we remember.

Other items to be distributed across the State in follow-up programs will include: 10 mobile education vehicles for delivery of community bushfire safety education programs; 300 mobile tablets for use by volunteer trainers and assessors to enhance and expand CFA’s growing online training program; A five year funding program to be invested in leadership and development for training volunteers. 20.01.2022 Fires don’t just happen in the country, if you live near grasslands, parks or paddocks, you are at risk of grassfires. Grassfires can be just as dangerous as bushfires grass is the most predominant fuel type in Australia. It ignites very quickly, burns rapidly and can travel at speeds of up to 25 Kilometres per hour. In rural areas, if a grassfire starts, you should leave as early as possible and move to built up areas well away from the fire. There’s no questioning the fa...cts, even urban areas can be at risk. https://www.youtube.com/watch

20.01.2022 Our secretary Bill has written a piece regarding our Covid response. Read below or in this month's Tatura Bulletin.

18.01.2022 Today we mark one year since the start of the devastating bushfires which deeply affected Victorian communities across the state. On 21 November, 2019 the first... ‘code red’ fire danger rating in almost a decade was declared in the Mallee and Northern Country, and dry lightning strikes in East Gippsland that started three fires which grew to a widespread bushfire disaster that burned for months. Today we reflect on the devastation and challenges that followed 21 November and the incredible support from all emergency services who came together to aid the communities impacted by the unprecedented fire season.
