23.01.2022 Update Regarding COVID-19 Outbreak in Shepparton: COVID-19 Testing Today ~ GV Health has tested 492 people for COVID-19 as at 6:00pm today. The testing sites ha...ve remained open into the evening beyond the scheduled closing times to accommodate additional demand. This is a large outbreak that has changed quickly over the past 24 hours. GV Health acknowledges there has been delays at our testing sites today and we are sorry this has occurred. However, GV Health has increased the number of testing sites in Shepparton as of tomorrow with support from health services in regional Victoria and the Australian Defence Force. There have also been improvements in the registration process for people presenting for testing which will reduce the time the testing process takes. An additional drive through testing location that will have two separate testing points at the Shepparton Sports Precinct will be available from Thursday. See details below. There has also been additional community based COVID-19 testing undertaken at the Princes Park Medical Centre today with 335 people tested as at 6:00pm. Current Active Cases and Close Contacts ~ There are three cases of people that have tested positive for COVID-19 in the Shepparton region that are considered to be active cases. These three cases are linked to the Chadstone Outbreak. These people are self-isolating at home and are being monitored. GV Health is undertaking contact tracing and testing now and into the evening, with further information to be provided as soon as it is available. At this stage, there are currently 411 close contacts and 70 secondary close contacts identified in relation to the outbreak in Shepparton and this number may change in coming days. This is an evolving outbreak and further information will be provided as soon as it becomes available. High-Risk Locations in Shepparton ~ If you have visited any of the high-risk locations below during the dates and times identified you should get tested and quarantine for 14 days. 17.01.2022 Shepparton Outbreak Update: COVID-19 Testing Numbers ~ GV Health has tested a total of 605 people for COVID-19 at the testing clinics in Shepparton from 8:00am ...on 14 October to 8:00am this morning. The total number of pathology tests taken processed by GV Health in the same timeframe is 1,031. This figure includes testing clinics, all inpatients, people through the Emergency Department and other hospitals in the region. GV Health has increased the number of testing sites in Shepparton with support from health services in regional Victoria and the Australian Defence Force. Improvements to the registration process for people presenting for testing have been made which will reduce the time the testing process takes. The testing sites GV Health is coordinating across Shepparton Showgrounds are again experiencing high demand. People are being redirected to the other testing sites where they should experience a reduction in waiting times to be tested and where it is safer for physical distancing. An addition testing site will commence this afternoon with further details provided below. Current Active Cases and Close Contacts ~ There number of positive cases has not changed since yesterday afternoon. There are three cases of people that have tested positive for COVID-19 in the Shepparton region that are considered to be active cases. These people are self-isolating at home and are being monitored. GV Health is continuing to undertake contact tracing and testing, with further information to be provided as soon as it is available. There are currently 340 close contacts and around 70 secondary contacts being monitored in relation to the Shepparton outbreak. This number has reduced from yesterday afternoon as the contact tracing teams have spoken with people associated with the outbreak and have been able to reclassify them as not being a close contact. This is an evolving outbreak and further information will be provided as soon as it becomes available. Getting Tested ~ There are a number of sites in Shepparton where people can get tested for COVID-19 noting this is for people from the designated high-risk locations and locations of concern below: * Acute Respiratory Clinic at Graham Street, Shepparton is open from 8:00am to 5:30pm.
