25.01.2022 The Commissioner of Taxation has extended the time available for employers to pay their employees and still be able to claim back the first JobKeeper payments. This extension date allows more time for employers to consider their circumstances and pay their staff, and still be eligible for those payments - Employers now have until the 8th of May 2020 to ensure all eligible employees have been paid $1500 (before tax) for JobKeeper fortnights 1 & 2 (30th March 2020 - 12th Apr...il 2020 and 13th April 2020 - 26th April 2020). Employers have until the 31st May 2020 to formally enrol to claim the JobKeeper payments for fortnights 1 & 2. If employees are not paid by the 8th of May 2020, employers cannot claim JobKeeper for the first two fortnights. The sooner an employer pays their staff for fortnights 1 & 2 and enrols in the JobKeeper package, the sooner the ATO can reimburse these payments. For any enquiries regarding the JobKeeper package, please give us a call on (03) 5022 1200 to discuss. Source: https://www.ato.gov.au/general/jobkeeper-payment/

10.01.2022 You may find yourself having to work from home due to closures and restrictions, what does that mean for your 2020 tax return? The Australian Taxation Office have, as a result of COVID-19, revised how you can claim "working from home expenses." As of March 1st, the ATO are allowing you to choose between 3 options. All of these options are more generous, but (and this is extremely important) you must keep a good record of your hours working from home.... See below for a quick overview of these new methods of claiming If you have any questions, give us a call on (03) 5022 1200.

You have registered your interest and subscribed for JobKeeper payment updates through the ATO, You continue to pay at least $1,500 to each eligible employee per JobKeeper fortnight (the first JobKeeper fortnight is the period from 30th March to the 12th April), You have notified your employees you intend to claim the JobKeeper payment on their behalf, Each eligible employee has completed and returned the JobKeeper employee nomination notice* by the end of April if you plan to claim JobKeeper payment for April. Keep it on file and provide a copy to your registered Tax Agent if you are using one. Applications will commence on the 4th of May 2020. *Individuals with multiple jobs can only nominate to claim the JobKeeper payment from one employer. 09.01.2022 On March 30, the Australian Government announced it would be offering businesses a wage subsidy to keep staff on until the restrictions are eventually lifted. It's called the "JobKeeper Payment" and the idea is that the Government, through the Australian Tax Office, will pay $1,500 to businesses per fortnight per employee for up to 6 months so long as they're eligible. This payment is designed to keep people in work during the current pandemic. While we wait for the JobKeeper... Payment legislation to be passed through Parliament, we will be registering our current business clients interest for this subsidy where applicable. If you believe you will be eligible for this payment, give our office a call on (03) 5022 1200 to discuss. See below for more information on eligibility https://treasury.gov.au//2020-04/Fact_sheet_Info_for_Emplo

If you are receiving JobKeeper payments, you are obliged to report your GST turnover for the month just passed and a projected turnover for the month commencing. You will also need to reconfirm the eligibility of your employees. Monthly declarations will need to occur within 7 days of the end of the calendar month until the package stops.... Example: Declare May's turnover and your projection of June's turnover by the 7th of June. At the end of June, report your actual June turnover and a projection of what you will earn in July, by the 7th of July, and so on.
