06.01.2022 The Taxi Council of Queensland welcomes today’s announcement from the Queensland Government of a $23 Million assistance package for the Queensland Taxi and Limousine Industry.

05.01.2022 Members have reported to the Taxi Council of Queensland (TCQ) of receiving emails suggesting that the $1,000/licence "unite & recover payments would be subject to tax and so they should not rely on the advice published by TCQ last week. TCQ considers any such suggestions to be completely unhelpful for taxi licence owners and more like the speculations of "hoaxsters rather than trustworthy advice from a competent adviser.

04.01.2022 The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) has advised the Taxi Council of Queensland (TCQ) of the following: - the funding process of the $23 million package will be administered by the Queensland Rural and Industry Development Authority (QRIDA) - all recipients, including taxi licence owners, will be required to lodge an application through QRIDA - TMR expects QRIDA to open the application process around the last week of July / first week of August 2020... - licence owners may claim $1,000 for every taxi (& limo) licence that was current (i.e. not expired or handed back to the Government) and in their name on 16 June 2020 - there is no maximum cap on the number of licences belonging to a taxi licence owner that they may claim TCQ will be advising all members about the opening date for applications when they are confirmed by QRIDA or TMR.

02.01.2022 Like many other industries comprised of small businesses, the taxi industry has been doing it very tough during the COVID-19 pandemic. As small businesses, our members just don’t have the endless reserves of money behind them to wait out the pandemic. We definitely need communities across Queensland to take on board the message behind the Go Local First campaign, and to use their local taxi service when needing to travel from A to B, - Blair Davies. #GoLocalFirst
