13.01.2022 WHY IT PAYS TO KEEP YOUR APPRENTICE - OR HIRE A NEW ONE In response to the ongoing Coronavirus situation, the Australian Government has announced a range of financial benefits to help small and medium businesses and keep Aussies in their jobs. This includes 50% wage subsidies for around 117,000 Australian apprentices and trainees.... This payment is for existing apprentices, as well as new employ of out-of-trade apprentices, and is up to $21,000 per eligible apprentice. Who is eligible? Wage assistance will be available to businesses who: Currently employ and retain an apprentice or trainee Have less than 20 full-time employees Large businesses and Group Training Organisations may also be eligible for these benefits if they employ an out-of-trade apprentice who has been in-training with a small business as of 1 March 2020 What benefits are available? The Australian Government is providing financial benefits to small and medium businesses to ensure they can continue to employ their apprentices and trainees. This includes a 50% wage subsidy to keep apprentices in their jobs. It is available for wages paid since January 1 2020 and will be available up to September 30 this year. Employers may receive up to $21,000 per eligible apprentice or $7000 per quarter. What to do if you think you’re eligible The stimulus package is focused on keeping businesses operational during this challenging time. You will be able to claim your wage subsidy by contacting your Australian Apprenticeship Support Network provider (who signed your apprentice up). Please note that employers will need to register for this assistance, starting the 2nd April 2020.

These phone calls will tell you that you owe ...money and need to pay it straight away or you’ll be arrested. The scammer will try to keep you on the line until you pay, often by unusual methods such as bitcoin, pre-paid credit cards or gift cards. If you get a call like this, hang up and don’t provide any info. We’ll never: threaten you with immediate arrest send unsolicited pre-recorded messages to your phone keep you on the line until a payment is made request payment of debts via bitcoin, gift cards or other vouchers. 07.01.2022 If you’ve received a government stimulus payment this financial year, do you know whether you need to include it in your tax return? Different payment types are... reported differently: JobKeeper payments if you’re an employee these will be included on your income statement as salary and wages or an allowance. JobSeeker payments need to be included in your tax return and will also be included on your Centrelink payment summary. Accessed super you don’t need to pay tax on COVID-19 early release of super amounts, so you don’t need to include this in your tax return. No need to manually fill this out, most info will be automatically included in your tax return by late July.
