25.01.2022 For many 2e kids, every day at school is hard. Its hard for them, and its hard for their parents. Unfortunately, hefty amounts of parent blame is often heaped on top of what is already an exhausting experience. There is a real lack of awareness around disability and learning differences, as well as the causes of behavioural issues. Everyone is treading water. This is an important investigation and I hope it leads to more supportive environments for students, parents and teachers

22.01.2022 Our current model of education is not serving the needs of our gifted or 2e students. Where is the flexibility and development of self?
22.01.2022 A good reminder of the ingredients for talent development. There are so many gifted children living in poverty who will not get the chance to develop their gifts into talents. Thankfully this young lady had a good chance encounter - a major factor that impacts on development in children https://www.abc.net.au//atar-measure-privilege-n/11817974
21.01.2022 Very much looking forward to this - to have the opportunity to speak with and listen to Susan Baum talk about her work with 2e kids at Bridges Academy in LA will be incredible
21.01.2022 This is interesting. If it becomes a push for formalised learning and academic achievement then it spells trouble. But in the context of play based interaction, it could be great. My concern would be about how formal this becomes. Learning to interact with others and take the perspective of others etc is really important; lets hope the focus is on play and social interaction
20.01.2022 Compelling viewing
20.01.2022 This is certainly not uncommon. Society seems to justify stress behaviours from teachers, but not from children. We need to learn to identify the inherent stress children experience when provided an inappropriate curriculum or learning environment. Its hard on everyone when we dont get it right.
18.01.2022 We need to ask more questions when it comes to girls and ASD. Too many kids being overlooked and blamed, too many parents left out on their own.
18.01.2022 This is such an honest reflection on parenting ASD children. The exhaustion, judgement and isolation is immensely stressful. https://www.abc.net.au//australia-talks-claire-s/11658562
18.01.2022 Im currently developing two units of work incorporating research, excursions and skill development for 2e and gifted homeschooled kids. These units will be on the themes of 1. Animal and plant adaptations and 2. Scientific thinking and research. Both will be run as term long courses, one day per week, per unit. If this is something you are interested in, please let me know. More details to follow.

14.01.2022 A hot topic for our 2e kids
14.01.2022 For all the parents of 2e children, feeling anxious about the new school year and the judgment you and your child will face. Know that these people dont know your struggle, or your exhaustion and resilience as you face each new challenge, each and every school day. Whatever educational decision you make for your child this year, remember you are not alone, there is a group of parents out there who understand. You are parenting a child and with enormous potential, and enormous challenges. It will be a journey like no other. Trust yourself and trust your child. You and they know what they need.
14.01.2022 Great tips here for our 2e and gifted children https://twitter.com/TayloredSol/status/1147421944456728576

13.01.2022 Hoping to compile a few stories and insights into the experiences of families with twice-exceptional children. We need to shine a light on the challenges faced by these families and children within the Australian educational climate Please get in touch if interested.

12.01.2022 This is heartbreaking but unfortunately not that uncommon. It seems that we continue to misunderstand stress behaviours in children

11.01.2022 Very proud of this young lady and what she’s accomplished. Sometimes we just need to tweak things a little and find a better path. Thea is a young dyslexic artist finding success through her talents. And yes, full disclosure - she’s my daughter. https://podcasts.apple.com//interview-with-a/id1517088748

07.01.2022 So glad that this has come through. We desperately need this in Qld.
07.01.2022 No surprises here - our industrial model is education does not fit anything other than the standard mind. The points on the economic sacrifices of families are spot on. https://apple.news/ACaJB4ZM1SSSBpu2nyv2svQ

02.01.2022 There is so much cross over between the different diagnosis children may receive. When the amygdala takes over, our executive functioning struggles. This is interesting research
01.01.2022 The latest series of news article about school refusal and discrimination makes me think about Dr Ross Greene and his views on behaviour. We need to ask what the unsolved problems are. Children dont want to be in trouble. We need to ask the questions, without judgement, and be adult enough to face the tough realities that some of these kids face.
