15.01.2022 Hey hay the secrets out there’s two lil Reindeers on the corner opposite TBCC. They will completed by tomorrow afternoon so please hold off on photos until then. We have worked with children in the community, they have made gratitude stars and wreaths which look amazing and will decorate the bodies.... There will also be a mass planting of petunias in the morning just to finish it off. PLEASE please do not climb on or damage our display. It’s under 24 hour security surveillance. We know community is the key to keeping this display safe until the end of January when it’s removed. So many people to thank for this project directed by the amazing Denise McLoughlin.

15.01.2022 COVID can’t stop Christmas Spirit COVID can’t stop Christmas Spirit Reindeer Project, evolved due to the Tailem Bend Christmas Parade being cancelled and the Progress Association are asking community to create static displays around the town. https://www.murrayvalleystandard.com.au//covid-will-not-/... One of our talented employees Denise McLoughlin was involved in a large scale community project several years ago creating numerous hay animals for a ‘Hey Hay art display’ in keeping with that theme we decided to make two reindeers from Hay and displaying them on the hill opposite TBCC. Denise, and her team of volunteers have been working on this project since July and have propagated 150 red and white petunias to beautify the whole display. ac.care Communities for Children Murraylands funded by the Australian Government Department Social Services (DSS) provided the trees which were originally donated by BIG W Murray Bridge and enabled TBCC C4C staff Chelsea and Gayle to engage children to contribute to the project. We asked the kids involved to decorate a star or wreath and write what they are most grateful for. We want to focus less on what we have all missed out on this year and more about what is great in their lives. Originally planned for creation last Monday with the help of Tony Pasin MP we had to postpone due to the Parafield lockdown, but we were determined to get it done. Maxine Kiddie chairperson of the Parade committee said after seeing the Reindeers That is absolutely awesome, I just love it, a huge thank you to Tailem Bend Community Centre (TBCC) from the Parade Committee. Tammy Shepherd, CEO, said "We rely heavily on the contribution of our community and volunteers, there are so many people to thank." Brenton, Christine Hartman and Tim, Leah Kowald for providing the Hay. Lynton Piggott and Smedley TYRE Service for delivering and unloading it. Coorong District Council for providing mulch and Murraylands Maintenance for donating petunias. Coles for letting us use their land. Five hours online training, followed by a 95 minute 'masked' face to face assessment and our certficates were emailed by lunch time! Whilst we are compromised by COVID restrictions in many ways online training is a perfect opporuntity to continuously improve skills and knowledge. ... Under the new SA Health Directive coming into effect at midnight tonight, ALL healthcare facilities require; All people (...including patients, patient’s family members, healthcare staff, administrative staff, contractors and cleaning staff) are required to wear single use surgical masks when on healthcare sites. CLOTH MASKS ARE NOT SUFFICIENT FOR HEALTHCARE SETTINGS. There are exceptions to mask wearing in some situations, such as, certain breathing difficulties, mental health conditions, communication with deaf or hard of hearing community members, people under the age of 12. A health care setting includes; GP practices, public and private hospitals and specialist practices, including drug and alcohol facilities, pharmacies, allied health services, Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services, dental services.'
