Kuapa Kokoo , our partner in Ghana, that has been supplying our Cocoa Butter since 1996, also supplies cocoa butter to some of the worlds largest chocolate factories . ... Cocoa Butter Story - For generations Cocoa Butter has been used by women around the world to give them super silky skin. Today we continue to use this ancient beauty wisdom in our ultra- moisturising products . For the Cocoa Butter we use in our products , we work with the Kuapa Kokoo Farmers Union in central Ghana. The ripe Cocoa pods are hand selected and cracked open , the beans are wrapped in banana leaves from the surrounding rainforest and dried. The Cocoa shells are separated from the Cocoa nibs, which are roasted , ground and pressed to create the silky smooth Cocoa butter. We use this in our products to make skin feel as delicious as it smells . Organic Cane Sugar story - We source our Community Trade organic cane sugar from from the Momtillo Cooperative in Paraguay, where local women use sugar to keep their hands soft and as part of their cleansing routine . The sugar cane is fast growing , with the main harvest taking place in the winter months (May - December ) , when the sugar is most concentrated in the cane. It is hand cut , then transported by bullock cart , to the collection points to be weighed before being taken to the sugar mill for processing. After the harvest , farmers grind the cane to release the juice , which is boiled reduced to a syrup , then crystallised and surged to produce the high quality sugar for our products .
