24.01.2022 If you're wondering how the JobMaker hiring credit will work in your business, this update from the ATO has some useful information to get you started, along with a link to register for the scheme. https://ecs.page.link/cSqmz

19.01.2022 Most of our customers at some point, small or large, have asked us what support, grants, funding is available whilst their business is being affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Well, if you’re lucky enough to not have been impacted, then carry on, BUT if you have been impacted, check this quick Queensland business assistance finder to assess what business assistance you may be eligible for. This business assistance can include:... automatically applied relief, such as the $500 electricity rebate, or the ATO cashflow boost assistance for employers, along with applications that might be required to access other relief such as: rent relief, wage subsidies, and insurance assistance. Get all the info here: https://ecs.page.link/DEdGs

18.01.2022 We're back and pumped to make 2021 the best yet, for our team and for our clients!! Let us know what projects you need help implementing this year; let's make it the year you get it done!

18.01.2022 Wishing you a safe and happy New Year's Eve!!

17.01.2022 Don't forget, significant changes to JobKeeper eligibility applies from today! This includes: - Actual decline in turnover to be satisfied for the September quarter; and - Rates of payment to change, including different rates for those working more or less than 80 hours per 4-week reference period.... Businesses will have until 31 October to meet the wage condition and to prepare and submit their actual decline in turnover, however, the new payment amounts to employees do apply from today.

16.01.2022 JobMaker Hiring Credits have now passed parliament. Although there have been some concerns about potential incentives for discrimination against older workers, this is a great opportunity for many employers to get eligible young people back into the workforce after COVID-19 restrictions. JobMaker Hiring Credits are applicable for eligible employees hired from 7 October 2020 until 6 October 2021, however, the actual payment won't be available to claim from the ATO until Februa...ry 2021 (as the incentive is paid quarterly after the work has competed for the quarter). Eligibility will include ensuring that the employee was previously on JobSeeker, or other relevant government support systems, and is engaged for over 20 hours per week. The hiring credit will pay $200 per week for eligible employees aged 20 - 29, and $100 per week for eligible employees aged 30 - 35. Let us know if you've got questions about accessing this incentive for your business.

11.01.2022 Just hearing the word, BUDGET, can send some people in a tailspin...from the connotations of 'going without' or 'loss of flexibility' or to even simple concerns about financial literacy, many business owners get a little anxious when we initially speak with them about budgets (or lack thereof). The reality is, when done right, a budget can provide MORE freedom and flexibility because you can PLAN for what's coming and make better decisions. Budgets don't have to be onerous, e...specially once created in the first instance. For the perfectionists out there, the budget will never be identical to the ACTUAL spending, and that's ok. If the budget is wildly inaccurate, then yes, some additional work may be required, but overall, it should reflect the trends rather than every detailed spend. When it comes to budgets for your business, are you using them as a valuable tool, or as something to avoid?

11.01.2022 As you've no doubt heard, the JobKeeper program has been extended past its initial cut off date of 27 September 2020. From 28 September 2020 businesses (and non-profits) will need to reassess their ACTUAL GST turnover in the September 2020 quarter. Eligibility requirements for JobKeeper payments mean there will need to be a demonstrated decline in turnover in the September quarter of:... 50 percent for those with an aggregated turnover of more than $1 billion; 30 percent for those with an aggregated turnover of $1 billion or less; or 15 percent for Australian Charities and Not for profits Commission-registered charities (excluding schools and universities). Your accounting team (perhaps it's us) should be talking to you soon about how your business plans for the upcoming changes to JobKeeper, including both eligibility and payment amounts.

We get two-way feedback and ensure the numbers tell the story about how your business is performing month to month, year on year.... 09.01.2022 HELPFUL HINT Businesses still on the JobKeeper program should consider a cashflow plan once the scheme ends at the end of March. Done is 100% better than perfect, and the only way, in our opinion to feel more comfortable about what life looks like after JobKeeper, is to get the numbers on paper and out of your head.... Talk to your accountant (who might just be us) about getting clear on your post-JobKeeper numbers ASAP.

08.01.2022 Did you know compulsory superannuation payments are scheduled to increase next year? The current SGL rate is 9.5%, which will increase to 10% from 1 July 2021. From there, the superannuation rates will be increasing by 0.5% each year until it reaches 12% from 1 July 2025.... It might seem like a small percentage increase, but it's worth remembering for longer-term business planning.

08.01.2022 Did you know that if you are an employer in Queensland who pays $6.5 million or less (but over the payroll tax threshold) in Australian taxable wages for the year, you could be eligible for a payroll tax refund for July and August 2020? You must apply for the refund prior to 30 October 2020, be registered for payroll tax and know your 7 digit client number. If you're not sure how to go about this process, be sure to speak to your accountant ASAP.

07.01.2022 Cellarbrations Bokarina Beach has officially opened as part of the Sunshine Coast Hotels group. Our team paid a visit and grabbed some fantastic store specials, plus we discovered a brilliant range of craft beer and rosé! The store is looking GREAT; you'll find it at a convenient spot along the Nicklin Way.... Well done Scott Armstrong and the team, you’ve served up another cracking bottle shop!!!

05.01.2022 In what is coming across as a very sophisticated scheme, Australian's are being targeted by another ATO-related scam. This time, scammers are ringing from a number, which appears to be Australian, with a recorded message, advising: "This is a call from the legal department of Services Australia. Your Tax File Number has been suspended..."... The message goes on to threaten arrest if details (including credit card details) aren't provided. The calls are very convincing and have caught many people out across the country. Needless to say, DON'T provide your personal details to these types of calls. Instead, hang up and report the details to ScamWatch.

05.01.2022 Welcome to TC & Co!! Your Outsourced Accounts Team. TC & Co Consulting has been reinvented into a modern day solution that allows us to truly work as part of your team. We are excited to bring this new brand to the Sunshine Coast and nationally for clients who depend on getting it right and on time. We look forward to welcoming you to our new home.

04.01.2022 The Fair Work Commission (FWC) has released information on the 10% decline in turnover test. If your business no longer meets the JobKeeper decline in turnover test, it could still be eligible to access the FWC award flexibility conditions, so long as you meet the 10% decline in turnover test. You'll also need a certificate to verify this is the case, which will need to be renewed quarterly.... An 'eligible financial services provider' such as an accountant, will need to complete this certificate on behalf of businesses that have 15 or more employees, whilst small employers, with fewer than 15 employees will be able to self-certify. Got questions about implementing this into new reporting practice into your business? Let us know how we can help!
