The best time is early in the morning. This way your lawn will have time to absorb the water before it gets too hot; this also prevents the humidity breeding fungus! Remember to check local water restrictions. Raise that cutting height and mulch if you can. Leaving higher grass allows more shade... for the grass to cool.
